Great Offer: Get a $200 Bonus (or 20K Points) on the Citi Double Cash Card!

The Citi® Double Cash Card has long been among the best cashback credit cards – and one of the best credit cards that doesn't charge an annual fee, period. It just got even better.
For a limited time , Citi is upping the ante. You'll now earn a $200 cash back bonus (or 20,000 Citi ThankYou points) after you spend $1,500 on the Citi® Double Cash Card within the first six months of card membership. That's a major change, as like many no-annual fee credit cards, the Double Cash Card hadn't offered a welcome bonus for many years.
Beyond that, you'll earn an unlimited 2% cash back on every purchase you make with the card: You'll get 1% cash back when you make the purchase and another 1% cash back after you pay your bill for those purchases. And while the card is marketed as a cashback credit card, it technically earns Citi ThankYou points – the same transferrable points you earn from cards like the Citi Premier® Card , the Citi Rwards+® Card , and more. Otherwise, you can redeem the 20,000 points for $200 cash back.
This is the biggest bonus we've ever seen on this card, which was already a standout option for everyday spending.

Full Benefits of the Citi Double Cash Card

Welcome Offer Bonus
For a limited time, you'll earn 20,000 Citi ThankYou points (or $200 cash back) after you spend $1,500 in the first six months of card membership . We don't know when this offer will end, but it's the biggest offer we've ever seen on the card.
Back in early 2019, we briefly saw Citi offer $150 back, but that offer ended quickly and we haven't seen a welcome offer on the Double Cash card since. If that last limited-time offer is any indication, you'll want to act fast if you are thinking about applying.

Earn 2% Back or 2x Citi Points on All Purchases
You'll earn 2x Citi ThankYou points on every dollar you spend on the Citi Double Cash card. You'll earn 1x point after making the purchase, and another 1x point after paying your bill. Being that these points can also be redeemed for cash back at a rate of one cent each, you'll be getting at least 2% cash back on all your purchases, and a better return if you choose to use these ThankYou points towards travel.

No Annual Fee
The Citi Double Cash Card doesn't charge an annual fee, making it one of the most cost-effective ways to earn Citi ThankYou points.
However, as is typical with many other no annual fee credit cards, it doesn't waive foreign transaction fees . That means it's not a good option for purchases made outside of the United States.
Make sure to check out our post on the best credit cards that will waive foreign transaction fees .

Are You Eligible to Apply for the Citi Double Cash Card?
Thinking about applying for the Citi® Double Cash Card? There are a few specific rules from Citi that you'll need to keep in mind.

The Citi 8/65 Application Rule
You can only be approved for one Citi credit card in an eight-day period, and at most, two credit cards in a 65-day period. That means if you have already been approved for two Citi credit cards in a 65-day period, you'll need to wait if you plan on applying for the Double Cash card.

Citi's 24-Month Rule
Citi has a 24-month rule for earning a welcome offer bonus on most of their cards. But with Citi, you're not eligible to earn a bonus if you have closed the card, or earned the bonus in the last 24 months.
You would need to wait a full 24 months from when you closed the Double Cash card to be eligible to apply and earn a bonus again.

Bottom Line
Citi is out with its largest bonus offer ever on the Citi® Double Cash Card . For a limited time, you'll earn 20,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $1,500 in the first six months of card membership . These 20,000 points can be redeemed for $200 cash back … or much more if you use them towards travel.
It's a great offer on one of our favorite no annual fee cash back credit cards. But if past welcome bonus offers on this card are any indication, it won't last long.
