Rosewood Hotels and Resorts announced the opening of the Rosewood Vienna on Monday.
The new hotel is the first Rosewood property in German-speaking lands, although the hotel chain has several other properties in Europe including the Rosewood London, the Rosewood Villa Magna in Madrid, and the Hòtel de Crillon in Paris.
Located am Petersplatz, Rosewood Vienna occupies the former headquarters of the Erste Group Bank, a nineteenth-century landmark comprised of five buildings that include the apartment in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived and where he composed “Die Entführung aus dem Serail,” in English “The Abduction from the Seraglio.”
The 99-key property is located close to the Albertina museum, the Volksgarten, the Hofburg, and Domkirche St. Stephan, among other major sites and is within minutes of major shopping streets that form the Fußgängerzone, or Pedestrian Zone, of the Innere Stadt, namely the Graben, , the Kohlmarkt, and the Kätnerstraße.
The hotel features 71 guest rooms and 28 suites, all with an earth tone décor emphasizing greys and dark woods, parquet floors, and marble bathrooms. Much of the hotel’s furniture was made by local craftsman.
Vienna is very much a walking city but guests can also utilize the hotel’s fitness center and receive treatments at the Asaya Spa.
Guest dining options include the Neue Hoheit Brasserie, which features Austrian cuisine, and the Neue Hoheit rooftop bar, which offers a variety of cocktails and views of the city.
The Salone Aurelie is the hotel’s lobby bar, which is decorated with botanical murals by the local artist Marie Hartig. It offers Viennese coffee, tea, and champagne, as well as traditional Viennese pastries and chocolates.
