Historic Hotel Schloß Fuschl Reflagged as a Rosewood Property

Arabella Hospitality announced the reflagging of Hotel Schloß Fuschl, a historic castle hotel in Land Salzburg, as a Rosewood-managed property.
Schloß Fuschl stands on a peninsula at the western end of Fuschlsee, a glacier lake, and was built as a Jagdschloß, or hunting lodge, ca. 1450 for the Salzburger Fürsterzbischof or Prince-Archibishop Sigmund I von Gleink-Volkserstorf and Kardinal Burkhard von Weißpriach.
When the Fürsterzbistum was dissolved in 1816 the property was turned over to the Austrian state and fell into disrepair.  By the 1930s, it was owned by Gustav Edler von Remiz, a supporter of the Vaterländische Front, a right-wing conservative organization established in 1933 by then Bundeskanzler Engelbert Dollfuß that supported Austrian nationalism as well as independence from Germany. Von Remiz was sent to Dachau where he later died and the property became the summer residence of Joachim von Ribbentrop, the Außenminister of the National Socialist regime under Adolf Hitler.
The property was returned to the von Remiz family in 1955 and turned into a hotel.  It is a 22-minute drive from the city of Salzburg.
Schloß Fuschl will undergo a full renovation starting this year.  The 98-key property will feature 46 suites and six chalets, as well as new restaurants and lounges.
Rosewood will offer its Asaya spa, with eight treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a fitness center.
In addition to Schloß Fuschl, Arabella and Rosewood are currently partnering on the soon-to-open Rosewood Munich in the Bavarian capital.
