What's On for Kids - October (+ Half Term) | North East England

Spilman's Pumpkin Festival  Our favourite autumn activity is back for 2023. Make sure you follow North East Family Fun on Instagram as we'll be visiting on opening weekend and sharing our experience.  Tickets are £7.50 per person and include entry to their pumpkin patch where you will find over 125,000 pumpkins of all varieties that have been grown right there on the farm.  You'll receive a £5 voucher per person which can be spent on activities and/or pumpkins. Activities include pumpkin sling shot, a spooky walkthough experience, tractor rides, barrel train rides, corn cannon and more. They're so much fun!  AND everyone can watch their Halloween stage show free of charge too.  There is food and drink available to purchase (highly recommend their pizzas) and a fairground (additional charges apply) too. It's a lush day out!  Find out more and book: https://www.spilmans.co.uk/pyo-pumpkins/ Drop In Half Term Activities at Musuems Northumberland Museums Northumberland are open daily across Northumberland School Holidays (28 Oct - 5 Nov) and have lots of spooky drop in fun available.  Woodhorn Museum is hosting a pumpkin trail across the museum (with a sweet treat at the end) and you can create your own wooden spider decoration to take home (free of charge). If you visit on 1 November, there will be a birds of prey demonstration too.  Hexham Old Gaol us hosting a skull trail across the museum (with a sweet treat at the end) and you can create your own wooden ghost decoration to take home (free of charge). This museum is FULLY DOG FRIENDLY so a perfect option for an indoor family day out with your dog in tow.  Berwick Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a bat trail across the museum (with a sweet treat at the end) and you can create your own wooden bat decoration to take home (free of charge). This museum is FULLY DOG FRIENDLY so a perfect option for an indoor family day out with your dog in tow.  KIDS ALWAYS GO FREE at Northumberland Museums (aged 16 and under) and an adult annual pass is £4 - £7 depending on the venue).  Find out more and check timings here: https://museumsnorthumberland.org.uk/ Half Term at Discovery Museum Newcastle  There are not one, not two, but THREE Halloween Discos taking place in the beautiful Art Deco Hall at the Discovery Museum this Halloween. Book your tickets below (these events usually sell out):  31 Oct (10:30am-11:30am) Hartbeeps Toddler Disco   book here  31 Oct (2pm-4pm) Spooky Silent Disco for ages 4+ with Costume Competition and Spooky Crafts   book here  31 Oct - (6pm-8pm) Spooky Silent Disco for ages 9+  book here  On Monday 30 October, you can visit the museum and enjoy a range of spooky crafts including a dangling spider (£1), flapping owl (£1.50), wooden halloween lantern (£2) and witch (free). Sessions last for one hour and although walk ins may be available, it's best to book in advance to guarantee your spot.  On Wednesday 1 November, 3-5 year olds (and their grown ups) and book onto a special Room on the Broom or Gruffalo Storytime & Craft Session at the museum led by the museum's early year's specialist Amy. Derwent Waterside Park Dog Friendly Pumpkin Patch  Derwent Waterside Park is a fantastic family day out anyway with nature walks, a brilliant adventure playground, fishing opportunities, a FREE enclosed exercise field for dogs, a cafe, cycling routes and more.  This autumn, there's even more fun to be had with a dedicated pumpkin patch. Tickets are £12 pp and include your very own pumpkin (you can choose from 100s), pumpkin themed activities, entry to the carving tent, photo opportunities and more. AND it's dog friendly.
