Take a Segway tour in Budapest for young adults

We’ve taken Segway tours in other locations in Europe but our Segway tour to Gellert Hill in Budapest was a fantastic family travel experience.

Shrouded in trees, we reached Gellert Hill by first driving our Segway on a bridge with amazing views across the Danube and then uphill through tree-lined residential streets.

Things to do in Budapest

We were so happy not to have had to walk that hill! At the top, we were able to wander the Citadella, view statues and even take a break to try our hands at shooting a bow and arrow! Your teenagers in Budapest will love the Segway, it has to be one of the most fun things to do in Budapest with kids.

Visit the Circus in Budapest with older kids

The Budapest National Circus is not your toddler-type of experience. While families travelling with younger kids would enjoy it as well, the Budapest National Circus is truly aimed at all ages not dissimilar to the performances of Cirque du Soleil.

What to see in Budapest includes the circus

The circus has a permanent structure located in Budapest City Park at the end of Andrassy Ut. Filled with flying acrobats and swinging trapeze specialists the circus made it on each of my teen’s list of favourite activities in Budapest.

Sights to see in Budapest – Szechenyi Baths

Budapest has many thermal baths but we narrowed it down to the Szechenyi Baths which are also located in Budapest City Park. Our teens spent most of their time in the mid-temperature pool, avoiding the hottest pool and the lap pool.

The baths are a Budapest to do activity

This pool had a circular whirlpool and many jets which everyone enjoyed. This was an experience like no other we’ve had as a top Budapest kid attraction.

What to do in Budapest – Visit a Ruin Bar

Ruin Bars are definitely a unique experience in Budapest and your teen will love to visit. That said, we don’t recommend visiting at night when they operate as very busy drinking scenes. Instead, check them out during the day. We visited the ruined pub, Szimpla Kert located on Kazinczy U.

The inside is so eclectic that our teens spent at least an hour wandering around looking at all the unique and colourful items inside including a full-sized car made of cardboard (which was driven at one time!)

Feeling the vibrant energy of Budapest with our teenager at Szimpla Kert

Visit the Szimpla Kert Farmers Market

Szimpla Kert farmers market is on Sundays. Grab some breakfast and explore. The market displays many local farmers with all items ranging from sausage to soup to vegetables. Upstairs Szimpla Kert holds a buffet breakfast made with items from the market.

The food is delicious and it was such a unique breakfast place. Visiting the Szimpla market is one of the most unique things to do in Budapest with kids of any age.

Ok, so a visit to Chain Bridge may not make it on everyone’s list and most may not think of it as one of the top Budapest activities with kids but our teens loved it. The bridge is large and dynamic but it has a walking path on each side. At night, it is lit up in beautiful white lights that reflect on the Danube below.

Chain Bridge is a Budapest famous place

There was also a video of some kind being made on our last night with a gentleman doing acrobatics on the exterior of the bridge. I have a feeling that this bridge would be one of the most fun places in Budapest to visit with teens as it seems to have regular fun things that would attract teens so if you’re visiting, make a point to check it out!

We chose a cruise that was departing at dusk. We were able to view the Chain Bridge, the Hungarian Parliament building, and Castle Hill which are all of Budapest’s top attractions lit up in all their night-time glory. The views were stunning from our amazing Budapest boat cruise!
