Like many of you, I initially had difficulty deciding which Four Seasons in Boston to choose. But then I got lucky and needed a hotel in Boston on our recent trip’s front and back end, so I was able to stay in both. We chose Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston first because I thought its variety of in-house dining, Wellness Floor, and Back Bay location would best suit our initial needs. I knew we would be hotel-bound for the first few days as my daughter recovered from a volleyball tournament, and I wanted to try its award-winning spa.
It’s more of a high-rise hotel in what feels like a business district, but what’s great about it is that you can walk to Newberry Street and Eataly. But overall, we loved our stay, and I’ll go over everything you need to know in this review, including why you would book using Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits, which you have access to through me.

ticket icon We stayed in a Premier Two Queens room and loved it! I think, also partially due to the room’s high ceilings, it felt larger than the square footage indicates. The bathroom is behind the beds; while this sounds strange, it’s a neat layout. You walk into the room, and immediately on your right is a hallway (where the closet space is) that leads to the large bathroom with a glass-enclosed tub and shower area. So, there is a lot of privacy between the bedroom and bathroom areas. It’s the only two queen bed room in the hotel, but if it were just my husband and I traveling, I would choose the king version for the same reason.
Suites
Four Seasons Executive Suite (King) : Up to three adults and one child. Can add a crib. Has a bathtub, sofabed and a fully separated living room from the bedroom. 639-711 square feet on floors 8-20. Cityscape views.
Back Bay Corner Suite (King): Up to three adults and one child. You can add a crib. Has a bathtub, sofabed, and a fully separated living room from the bedroom. 880-917 square feet on floors 8-21. Has cool floor-to-ceiling corner windows in the bedroom for one of the best cityscape views in the hotel.
Cambridge Suite (King) : Up to three adults and one child. You can add a crib. Has a bathtub, sofabed, and a fully separated living room from the bedroom. 1283 square feet on floor 21. It’s designed for entertaining with a large sofa seating area in the living room and a formal dining room. Cityscape views plus views of the Charles River.
Charles Suites: (King) : Up to three adults and one child. You can add a crib. Has a bathtub, sofabed, and a fully separated living room from the bedroom. 1300 square feet on floor 8. It’s the only accommodation with a wrap-around terrace for al fresco entertaining (weather permitting) plus a formal dining room. Cityscape views plus views of the Charles River.
Presidential Suite (King) : Up to three adults and one child. You can add a crib. Has a bathtub, sofabed, and a fully separated living room from the bedroom. 1627 square feet on floor 21. Needless to say, this is the top suite with a formal dining room, living room, and panoramic views. Cityscape views plus views of Fenway. You need to call to book it.
Really Fantastic Restaurants
We ate three meals a day over three days in the hotel. I was not kidding you about using it as a recovery spot from five days at a volleyball tournament.
One + One Restaurant
If you book in as a Four Seasons Preferred Partner guest, you receive daily buffet breakfast for two here, and it’s really great. It isn’t a giant buffet, but it’s well-curated with housemade yogurts, breads, little avocado toasts, eggs, parfaits, overnight oats, breakfast meats, and then some. You also receive a complimentary little shot of whatever the fresh juice of the day is.
We overlapped a weekend day when brunch was being served, and it had similar breakfast items plus other stations that included seafood, salads, and other hearty and healthy fare.
Zuma
We lived in London, not too far from the very first Zuma restaurant there. Its second restaurant opened in Hong Kong when we lived there (at Four Seasons Hong Kong). In recent years, more Japanese izakaya-inspired restaurants have popped up worldwide, including in Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston.
Here, you’ll find innovative dishes and an upbeat, somewhat swanky atmosphere. We ate early, and people were dressed smart-casually, and there were some kids. It does feel like it could become more adult-centric in the later evenings.
Trifecta
An elegant and vibrant lounge just off the lobby that’s deal for an intimate gathering or a pre-dinner drink. It’s not open all day and it’s a local go-to for weekend afternoon tea.
In-Room Dining
The 24-hour in-room dining service provides a diverse menu of delicious options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night cravings. And boy, did we use it. We ordered Boston Cream Pie, pasta, New England Cobb Salad with Maine Lobster (highly recommend), and more.
It arrived on time and as ordered. I’m also a huge fan of ordering hot water with lemon to right the ship on trips, and they delivered pots on this on the side without charge.
The Wellness Floor and Other Amenities
This is also part of the reason why we chose this hotel for our first leg. The other Four Seasons doesn’t have a spa and this spa, fitness center, and pool area covers the entire 7th floor. They call it the Wellness Floor.
Indoor Swimming Pool
The pool is curved actually, but not so much that you can’t easily swim laps. Indoor heated pools are mandatory in Boston, because, well, winter. I loved the seating areas and the views.
Spa
While there’s no doubt it was pricey, we enjoyed a facial and massage in one of the couples’ suites (which you must do when your kids are minors). What I appreciated is that it felt very much like an individual treatment despite two people in the same room. Our skin glowed for days afterward, which is something we both badly needed after multiple flights and convention center air conditioning.
In fact, we purchased some of the spa products which are by 111Skin. Backing up a little — after changing, the lounge area looks like this and has pretty panoramic cityscape views.
If we didn’t have our Zuma reservation, I would have stayed in this area after our treatments for a bit longer.
Loaner Bikes
When the weather permits, hotel bikes are waiting in the lobby for you on a first-come, first-served basis.
