Four Seasons Hotel Madrid Review & How to Book VIP

I needed to connect in a major city before flying to Nice, and since I wanted to stay at Four Seasons Hotel Madrid, I made this glorious city our stopover for several days. Why? I knew it would be special, based on everything I knew about the lengthy and meticulous steps it took to create this luxury hotel.

It’s at the heart of the Centro Canalejas restoration project, where over 16,000 original features across seven historic buildings have been masterfully refurbished and restored into a single architectural wonder. The hotel is home to a 2000-piece art collection and at the apex of the project where storied Calle de Seville and Calle de Alcalá meet. In fact, Kilometer Zero, the point from which all distances in Spain are measured, is steps away.

It is spectacular aesthetically, but the food, service, and spa match are just as noteworthy. I booked in using Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits, which you can access through me. My full review is below.

Design elements include soothing earth tones, floor-to-ceiling windows, upholstered headboards, luxury bedding, marble ensuites, and chrome finishes. All have courtyard or cityscape views. Five specialty suites offer an uncompromising level of spaciousness and grandeur.

Your room or suite includes a coffee maker, private mini-bar, in-room safe, and a premier bed with down duvet and pillows. Other highlights include a desk, chaise lounge, flat-screen TV, and complimentary premium Wi-Fi. And high ceilings made our room feel even larger than it was. Rooms


Superior Courtyard Room : Offers one king bed or two double beds, accommodating up to two adults (yes, even in the two bed room). Each room faces an open-air courtyard in the center of the building. Superior Courtyard rooms are located on floors three through six. Size: 45–50 m² (484–538 sq. ft.).

Superior Courtyard Accessible Room (King) : Special features include wide doors, wheelchair-accessible doors, lowered peepholes, lowered closet hangers, and other adapted features. In the ensuite, you’ll find a roll-in shower and shower bench, grab bars, a lowered counter, and an emergency alarm.

Deluxe Alcalá Room : Features one king bed, designed for up to two adults, facing Calle de Alcalá. A boutique-style wardrobe creates a private dressing room beside the bathroom. Size: 45–50 m² (484–538 sq. ft.) and located on floors two through five.

Deluxe Sevilla Room : Has one king bed, suitable for up to two adults, premium views overlook storied Calle de Sevilla. Size: 45–50 m² (484–538 sq. ft.) and located on floors three through six.

Premier Room : Offers one king bed or two double beds, with an additional rollaway or sofabed in king-bedded rooms. Accommodates up to three guests and one rollaway or sofabed can be added to the king room. Premier rooms face Calle de Alcalá or Calle de Sevilla and are on the second through sixth floors. Size: 55–65 m² (592–700 sq. ft.).

Premier Terrace Room : Each Premier Terrace room also has a private terrace to enjoy your morning coffee or relax outside in the evening. It comes with one king bed and can have a rollaway for up to three guests. These rooms are located on the fifth and sixth floors facing either Calle de Alcalá or Calle de Sevilla. Size: 45-50 m² (484-538 sq. ft.)​ ​.





We Stayed in a Premier Double
I really loved this room. It has tons of space for a small family, plus the bathroom is a little removed from the bedroom. You walk down a small hall to get to it. I did wish there was a little bit more drawer space but that’s a small quibble. They also left lovely amenities in our room every day (Preferred Partner guest benefits).



Suites

All suites have one king bed and the option of a sofabed or rollaway. Suites accommodate three guests, including up to two children.


Four Seasons Courtyard Suite : These face the open-air courtyard in the center of the hotel and have sliding doors that offer privacy and separation between the living and sleeping areas. It is located on the fifth and sixth floors. Size: 77-87 m² (823-936 sq. ft.).

Four Seasons Suite : You gain separation between the living and sleeping areas, either with sliding doors or a few stairs. Beautiful wood accents in the living area, an oval free-standing soaking tub, and a two-sink vanity in the ensuite enhance this option. Four Seasons suites are located on the second through fifth floors facing either Calle de Alcalá or Calle de Sevilla. Size: 60-77 m² (645-829 sq. ft.).

Four Seasons Terrace Suite : Enjoy cityscape views of Madrid facing either Calle de Alcalá or Calle de Sevilla from the fifth or sixth floors. Each has the feel of a chic apartment in the city’s best neighborhood. The expansive terrace offers indoor/outdoor living and dining for entertaining or respite. The bedroom and ensuite are separated from the living area by sliding doors. The marble ensuite includes a free-standing oval soaking tub, separate shower, and a two-sink vanity. Size: 57-64 m² (614-689 sq. ft.).

One-Bedroom Courtyard Suite : These suites provide larger living and dining areas and a convenient powder room for your guests. A door separates the living area and bedroom. These suites are located on the fourth and sixth floors and enjoy courtyard views. Size: 90-98 m² (969–1,055 sq. ft.).

One-Bedroom Suite : Gorgeous one-bedroom suites at Four Seasons Madrid are an ideal choice for you if you’re expecting to entertain. A guest powder room is located conveniently off the main living area. Separation from the bedroom is either by a few steps or a door. Ensuites include a double sink vanity and a separate soaking tub and shower. These suites are located on floors two, three, four, and six and are facing either Calle de Alcalá or Calle de Sevilla. Size: 80-110 m² (861-1,184 sq. ft.).

One-Bedroom Terrace Suite : Enjoy a cityscape view from the sixth-floor One-Bedroom Terrace Suite. It’s 883 square feet of dramatic indoor/outdoor living space. The expansive terrace provides enough space for al fresco dining for four. These terrace suites face Calle de Alcalá. Size: 82 m² (883 sq. ft.)​ ​.


Specialty Suites


Penthouse Suite : This is my favorite at Four Seasons Hotel Madrid suite if I were to book a specialty suite. It’s like having your own downtown luxury apartment. You’ll have enviable views of the cityscape and Puerta del Sol clock tower from two large, furnished terraces on either side of this top-floor suite, something no other accommodation in the hotel has. Size: 96 m² (1,033 sq. ft.).

Canalejas Suite : This two-bedroom suite takes its name from the square it overlooks, is located on the third floor and accommodates five guests. The large living area features an elegant French balcony with cityscape views. You’ll also find a dining table for four, a well-equipped pantry, a workspace, and a guest powder room. Many historical details, from wooden doors to marble pieces, adorn the space. Both bedrooms have ensuites with dual sink vanities. Size: 172 m² (1,850 sq. ft.).

Two-Bedroom Suite : Like the Penthouse Suite, the two two-bedroom suites are located at the tip of the hotel, but on the third and fourth floors. They accommodate five guests and provide a formal foyer, a large living area with intimate seating for conversation, a dining table for six, and step-out balconies that take advantage of cityscape views overlooking both Calle de Alcalá and Calle de Sevilla. Size: 168–170 m² (1,808–1,830 sq. ft.).

Presidential Suite : This is a fun suite made for socializing on the fifth floor. You’ll find a formal foyer, living room with three distinct socializing areas, and a dining table for eight. The casually elegant living area includes a modern cocktail bar beside the dining table. Features two king beds and a rollaway, suitable for up to 5 guests. Size: 300 m² (3,229 sq. ft.).

Royal Suite : Aptly named, the Royal Suite is the largest and grandest suite in this Madrid hotel. This suite is the former office of the bank president whose work was once essential to Spain as a whole. In keeping with that prestigious background, this is the largest suite in Madrid, maybe in Spain. Located on the second floor, the palatial suite overlooking Calle de Alcalá includes a formal foyer, expansive living room with two seating areas, dining for eight, full kitchen, exercise room, private study, and guest powder room. Contains one king bed and a rollaway, accommodating up to 3 guests. Size: 400 m² (4,305 sq. ft.)​


Dining at Four Seasons Madrid 

Four Seasons Madrid has three award-winning chic restaurants onsite for you to choose from – Dani Brasserie, Isa Restaurant and Cocktail Bar, and El Patio. In-room dining is available 24 hours a day. I can tell you that every single meal, dessert, or snack we ate in the outlets was outstanding.

Dani Brasserie

Created by Spanish celebrity chef Dani Garcia, Dani Brasserie is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and late-night cocktails. Rooftop dining at Dani’s offers floor-to-ceiling windows in the restaurant and a grand outdoor terrace with incredible views.

Designed by Martin Brudnziki, the décor is an interesting blend of an upscale Spanish contemporary art gallery and a gorgeous botanical garden. With a statement bar and varied seating options, Dani’s serves up traditional Andalusian cuisine and Michelin-starred specialties. Try classics with an upscale twist like the Dani Rossini Burger – matured Simmental loin, foie gras, parmesan cheese. Or get adventurous with options like Grilled Pigeon with cocoa, and glazed endive.

We enjoyed a two-hour late lazy lunch here. The tableside guacamole, mushroom risotto, and the ahi were my favorites, but everything was good. They even brought my daughter a cool mocktail.



It was summer, so quite hot, but plenty of people were enjoying lunch and cocktails on the terrace outside.

Isa Restaurant and Cocktail Bar

Designed by AvroKo, Isa Restaurant and Cocktail Bar has an exciting and eclectic atmosphere with an old-school sophistication. A menu as distinctive as its décor, Isa offers an interesting blend of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine.

Enjoy surprising and tantalizing dishes like the Himiko Roll – beef, carpaccio, asparagus tempura, and foie gras truffle. The chic fare is complemented by the mysteriously seductive, award-winning cocktail bar.

El Patio



El Patio is situated at the base of the grand staircase in the heart of the hotel’s majestic lobby. A soaring ornately designed glass ceiling, gold-trimmed mezzanine, and grand gothic windows create the illusion of an outdoor patio.

The menu offers a mixture of traditional Spanish cuisine and modern classics made with exquisite local ingredients. I recommend trying the Vermouth Time Lapse with the Tapas Experience. You can also enjoy a variety of delicious coffees, teas, wines, and signature cocktails, including the Spanish Gin & Tonic Experience.

In-room Dining



In-room dining is available 24 hours a day, offering a variety of Madrid’s finest Spanish fare. We didn’t leave the hotel at all on our first day after a long flight plus I had a Dani reservation and spa. We ate A LOT of room service and what a treat it is.

Four Levels of Spa and Wellness

Four Seasons Madrid has an array of world-class amenities available for you to enjoy during your stay. This includes a state-of-the-art fitness center, an impressive 14-meter indoor pool, and the largest spa and wellness center in Madrid. There is also a wealth of onsite activities, experiences, and venues to explore.

The Spa

The largest wellness center in Madrid, the Four Seasons Madrid Spa is a 15,000-square-foot, four-level spa sanctuary that is the only spa in Madrid to receive five stars from Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards in 2023. You’re immediately welcomed by their opulent two-level lobby bathed in natural light from the overhead oculus skylight. The space is complemented by gorgeous hanging sculptural gardens shimmering from glass and metal.

You can book a variety of wellness body rituals, signature body treatments, and wellness tapas. The latter are add-on enhancements. It has eight spacious and relaxing treatment rooms, including one designated for couples with its own private shower, bath, and steam. Various other relaxation facilities like a solarium, sauna, and steam bath are included so you’ll want to get there early if possible to enjoy them all.

My daughter booked a facial while I booked a massage. They use 111Skin products, a celebrity favorite, and we bought some facial products to take home. I highly recommend that you book a spa treatment if you’re going to stay here. Not only will you feel rejuvenated afterward, but your skin will glow.

An Indoor Swimming Pool



The spa’s masterpiece, a stunning 46-foot sparkling swimming pool, is located on the eighth floor of the hotel. It’s surrounded by contemporary glass walls and a soaring skylight, giving this indoor pool a distinctly outdoor feel.

Enjoy a refreshing swim or head outside to the attached sun-splashed pool terrace to sunbathe as you take in the marvelous sights of Madrid’s city center.

Fitness Center

The facility itself is outfitted with cutting-edge Technogym equipment with innovative technological connectivity. It has Skill Line equipment, a collection of exercise bikes, treadmills, and rowers for resistance and cardio training. You’ll also enjoy the Excite Line, a collection of stair climbers, exercise bikes, cross trainers, treadmills, and upper-body trainers.

Most training equipment includes a long list of virtual trainers and workout videos you can follow. Additionally, this gym has the Technogym Bench, an all-in-one station for strength training with over 200 exercise options. Every piece of equipment is designed with a specific purpose, from increasing muscle function, strength, and flexibility to improving neuromuscular abilities, anaerobic power, and aerobic capacity.

Four Seasons Madrid also provides Technogym bags if you’d like to train in the privacy of your guestroom or suite. Each bag has the most relevant gym equipment for a complete and total workout. This includes free weights, exercise mats, foam rollers, and resistance bands.

The Madrid Neighborhood

Four Seasons Hotel is in the Madrid Centro neighborhood, a perfect location in the very heart of the city. It’s a lovely place to explore with all the key attractions nearby. Our itinerary consisted mostly of shopping and eating this time, since past trips covered the historic highlights. We walked everywhere. The hotel is five minutes on foot to Gran Via, the famous shopping street.

And, of course, the shopping doesn’t get any better than Galería Canalejas, where over 40 luxury shops await without ever leaving the building.

The famous Prado Museum, with its vast Goya collection, is ten minutes away on foot. To get further lost in the city’s history and art, visit the Royal Palace of Madrid and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, too.

Sobrino de Botín, the world’s oldest restaurant and Casa Alberto, another Centenario located in the building where Cervantes wrote Don Quixote are both five-minute walks away. Flamenco Essential for famous flamenco shows is four minutes walking distance.

I recommend visiting El Retiro Park and Madrid Rio if you want to get out in nature. Fun attractions for the kids include the Madrid Zoo Aquarium and Museo de Cera (Wax Museum of Madrid).

Staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid with Kids   

The upscale Four Seasons Madrid welcomes families with children. You’ll find children’s menus, and the staff can make accommodations per a young one’s palate (we request various smoothies and doable off-menu items at Four Seasons worldwide).

Kid-sized robes, slippers, and bath amenities are available, as are babysitting services and complimentary cribs. You’ll also find special family activities during holidays like Christmas and Easter.

Connecting rooms are available and can be guaranteed for Preferred Partner guests.

What Makes Four Seasons Hotel Madrid So Unique

Comprised of seven fully renovated historic buildings, the most unique thing about the Four Seasons Madrid is the hotel itself. Walk the halls of this one-of-a-kind luxury hotel and revel in its beautiful and unique history. It’s also the first Four Seasons hotel in Spain and home to the largest wellness center in the city.

You can shop 40 exclusive boutiques in the former Palacio de la Equitativa (including Hermes right next to the lobby), now Galería Canalejas, without leaving the building.

On the first floor of Galería Canalejas, you’ll find the Food Hall with 13 incredible restaurants headed by Michelin-starred and internationally known chefs. You could grab plenty of easy takeaway from here to bring back to your room.
