JetBlue Names Veteran American Air Executive as System Operations VP

JetBlue Airways announced the appointment of Steve Olson to the position of vice president for systems operations.
Mr. Olson most recently served as managing director for American Airlines’ integrated operations center and has been at the airline along with two predecessor carriers, US Airways and American West. He began his career in the airline industry as a customer service representative at America West in 2004.
In his new position, Mr. Olson will report to Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue’s president.
“I’m excited to welcome Steve to JetBlue with his experience across so many aspects of aviation from maintenance and dispatch to the airport and the ops center,” she said in a statement.
Alex Battaglia, Mr. Olson’s predecessor at JetBlue, recently announced his retirement after 15 years at the New York-based airline and 40 years in the industry.
Mr. Olson, who is a licensed commercial pilot, studied at Emory-Riddle Aeronautical University.  He is also a certified aircraft dispatcher.
