10 Best Coworking Spaces in Koh Samui (+Cafes)

Thanks to its popularity amongst traveling online workers, there are lots of amazing coworking spaces in Koh Samui; it’s one of the most popular islands to visit in Thailand.

Thousands of digital nomads flock to Thailand each year – and for good reason. The country is undeniably gorgeous, the people are known to be some of the friendliest in the world, the food is incredible, and the cost of living is absurdly affordable.

Koh Samui is a small island off the eastern coast of Thailand in the Gulf of Thailand. It’s known for its pristine, postcard-worthy beaches, stunning waterfalls, and vibrant nightlife. It has a popular backpack culture and has attracted digital nomads since the internet began.

Best Coworking Spaces in Koh Samui

I decided to call Koh Samui home for almost two and a half years, and it was one of the best chapters of my life. As a digital nomad, working online was always easy and convenient on the island; made possible by the many modern coworking spaces and cafes. These are my favorite, most reliable spots.

1. Mantra Work Lounge

Located in the northern part of the island, Mantra Resort offers a coworking space called the Mantra Work Lounge. Tucked off the main ring road, this coworking space in Koh Samui is arguably one of the most popular. It’s modern, has fast internet, and since it’s a resort, it has lots of other amenities to take advantage of.

The office space is open and bright, with an outdoor terrace and incredible views of the Gulf of Thailand. They have a printer and scanner, as well as a food and beverage station. Depending on what type of pass you purchase, you can even obtain access to the pool and gym, and receive a credit to the on-site restaurant.

The multifunctional space doesn’t offer any private conference rooms, but the floor plan allows for well-spaced workstations.

Address: 9 123-124 ตำบล แม่น้ำ Tambon Mae Nam, Ko Samui District, Surat Thani 84330, Thailand

Membership Options and Costs

The Day Pass costs THB 200 ($5.70 USD). This includes coworking space access and complimentary refreshments. The Day Pass Plus is THB 500 ($14.25 USD) and includes everything in the Day Pass plus access to the gym and pool, along with THB 500 credit in food and beverage credit at the restaurant. For an Extended Pass (weekly or monthly), you’ll need to contact the resort directly.

Amenities at Mantra Work Lounge

Open comfortable coworking space – grab a seat at a desk or table with amazing ocean views.

Cons of Mantra Work Lounge

Crowded during peak seasons and the coworking space can fill up quickly

Hard to find (as of right now, there’s little to no signage to get to the resort; you have to navigate on GPS)

No 24-hour access – opens at 8 am and closes at 9 pm

2. Be Productive

Lamai is one of my favorite cities on Koh Samui. It’s laid back, it’s a backpacker’s haven, and it has Be Productive as a dependable coworking space. This quiet working space was my go-to spot whenever I needed to really focus and get a project done.

Escape the heat and breathe easy in the temperature and CO2-controlled environment with shared and private spaces and fast internet (500Mbps). You’ll have 24/7 access to the office with ergonomic chairs and spacious desks. The only downside is that you have to rent out a desk by the month – and desks can sell out during busy months.

If you need to make a phone call, there are soundproof calling rooms for extra privacy. There’s also a garden located in the center of the building where you can get some fresh air and enjoy the sunshine and flora. They’re also opening up a second location in Bo Phut in December of 2023.

Address: 145, 1, Maret, Amphoe Ko Samui, Surat Thani 84310, Thailand

3. WYSIWYG Coworking Space & Cafe

If you happen to be staying in the bustling city of Chaweng, you can head over to the COSI Hotel and access their WYSIWYG Coworking Space and Cafe. What I love about this location is that it’s in Central Chaweng and is walkable from the many hotels in the city.

This lounge is one of the best coworking spaces in Koh Samui because the COSI hotel is known as a “smart hotel” with lots of modern amenities and technologies. The space is across two stories, with a cafe on the bottom and a lounge space up top.

Entrance is free with purchase from the cafe, but expect it to get crowded and a little loud due to the music downstairs. This coworking space also provides 24/7 access and high-speed internet at 100Mbps. It’s also a great spot to meet other travelers and digital nomads.

Known for having some of the fastest internet on Koh Samui, Khan Space has lightning-fast download speeds of over 900Mpbs. Located in the Bo Phut area of the island, the space is situated just off Chaweng Lake. It’s a short scooter ride to the main street of Chaweng.

The fully air-conditioned, coworking space is soundproofed, so you can work in peace without the noise of traffic outside. There are comfortable chairs, including gaming chairs, and free refreshments and snacks. An outdoor garden can be found out back for some R&R.

A major perk about Khan Space is that you can opt to work by the hour or pay a daily, weekly, or monthly rate. The only downside is that they aren’t open 24/7, and they close early on the weekends (6 pm).

Address: 83/87, Bo Put, Surat Thani 84320, Thailand

Created by two fellow digital nomads, Desk + Chair Samui is one of the best workspaces on Koh Samui. Open 24 hours a day and located in popular Chaweng, it’s a beautiful office space with coworking desks and dedicated desks. Even the decor is stunning.

Every detail has been thought out at Desk + Chair. They have seated and standing desks, focus zones for when peace and quiet are required, private call booths, and a gorgeous rooftop terrace with a sky garden. There’s also a chill-out zone, free refreshments, and free beer on Fridays, and they’re pet-friendly.

Although internet speeds aren’t listed, they claim to have some of the fastest on the island. I would trust that since they seem to really know what they’re doing. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this spot.

Address: 1, 54, Bo Put, Ko Samui District, Surat Thani 84320, Thailand

6. The Jungle Club

Although it’s not an official coworking space, The Jungle Club is still a popular working space for digital nomads. Located in the less crowded area of Chaweng Noi, The Jungle Club has great WiFi and one of the best views on the entire island.

Perched on the hillside, this resort has a terrace that’s open to the public. It offers an incredible backdrop for a day of productive work. WiFi speeds aren’t disclosed; however, online workers rate this place highly. Accessing the resort is free, you’ll just need to make a purchase from the restaurant.

Some things to consider beforehand are that there are limited power outlets, so you’ll want to come with a full charge. And the terrace can fill up quickly, so privacy isn’t something you can expect at this location.

7. The Road Less Travelled Cafe

When I lived on Koh Samui, I lived in the sleepy town of Nathon on the west side of the island. This is a fishing town where mostly locals live; however, there are little hidden gems to be found – including The Road Less Travelled Cafe. On this side of the island, my internet would go out frequently at my apartment, and this was always my go-to spot.

This adorable cafe has bohemian vibes and a fantastic menu. Their WiFi is always fast and dependable (speeds not disclosed), and the service is fantastic. They also serve beer, wine, and pastries that are just heavenly.

The space is small, but I never had an issue finding a table or a spot on the cozy sofa. They also have quite a few power outlets throughout the cafe as well.

8. For Rest Bar Koh Samui

Just north of The Road Less Travelled Cafe is another one of my favorite spots to open my laptop – For Rest Bar Koh Samui. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it; this small beachside bar has one of the best sunset views on the island, and their WiFi is always fast (speeds unknown).

The owners are a young local sibling pair that also create some incredibly delicious food and cocktails. There’s nothing better than an office with an ocean view just steps from the sand. Tables are limited, but there are lounge chairs on the beach.

Since it’s not an official coworking space, there are no power outlets available, however, WiFi is free with the purchase of a menu item. This place is definitely worth the drive from Chaweng.

9. Bao Bao Cafe

I was living on Koh Samui when Bao Bao Cafe first opened, and as soon as it opened its doors, I became a regular. First off, I can never get enough baos. And second, the space is absolutely perfect for setting up shop for a few hours.

The open space has plenty of seating, and they also have a large outdoor patio. Their WiFi is fast (undisclosed speed), and there’s a sufficient amount of outlets. In fact, their homepage even invites guests to “stay a while” and open their laptops. It’s also conveniently located in the northern part of the island in beautiful Maenam.

Since it’s not an official coworking space, there are the usual downfalls – no private space, limited hours, and no printing services. But! You get to eat delicious baos while using their fast, free internet. Sounds like a great way to spend a Tuesday.
