American Airlines announced the launch of non-stop twice-weekly service to Eleuthera. The flights will link Miami, Florida, on the mainland with Governor’s Harbour.
The inaugural flights took place on February 3, 2024.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays from Miami International Airport in Florida to Governor’s Harbour Airport, which is located in Governor’s Harbour on Eleuthera in the Bahamas. The aerodrome is the second most active of the three airports on Eleuthera, and is about 8 miles (13 km) north of the city.
The new route is the sixth Bahamas-based destination that the U.S airline currently serve, the country’s tourist bureau said in a statement.
The other destinations are North Eleuthera; Nassau, New Providence; Freeport, Grand Bahama; George Town, Exuma; and Marsh Harbour, Abaco.
American will serve the new destination with Embraer E170 aircraft. The E170 is equipped with 12 reclining first-class seats in a 1-2 configuration. Each seat is 24” wide and has a minimum seat pitch of 36”. There are 16 standard 18.2”-wide seats, arranged in a 2-2 configuration, in the aircraft’s premium-economy lite cabin, each with a minimum of 34” of seat pitch. Flights on Tuesdays will depart Miami at 11 a.m. local time and return from Governor’s Harbour at 1 p.m. local time. The estimated flight time is 1 hour 15 minutes outbound and one hour inbound.
On Saturdays, flights will generally depart Miami at 10:30 a.m. local time and leave Governor’s Harbour at 12:30 p.m. local time.
