Lufthansa Prepares for Two-Day Strike, Will Ground 90% of Flights

Ticketing and rebooking counters will not be manned during the strike.
Flights in Germany will be brought to an abrupt standstill starting Wednesday when  hundreds of ground personnel at Deutsche Lufthansa will walk out on strike for two consecutive days.
The job action will impact at least 100,000 Lufthansa passengers, the carrier said.
German’s flagship carrier is racing to book passengers on alternative flights or via railroad, where possible.
Lufthansa will operate between 10% and 20% of its 1,000 scheduled flights on February 7, the first day on which baggage handlers, cargo staff, and other ground services personnel will go on strike, the airline said in a post on social media.
Passengers affected by the strike should not go to the airport.
The job action will have the greatest impact at Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, and Düsseldorf airports.
Ticketing and rebooking counters will not be manned during the strike.
The move comes on the heels of a pilot strike at Lufthansa Group’s leisure airline, Discover, which took place from February 4 at 1 a.m. CET through February 5 at 11:59 p.m.
