T-Mobile announced that it was joining the status bandwagon, introducing the Magenta status tier for customers.
The new status tier comes on the heels of other recent new benefits. The self-proclaimed “Uncarrier” is transitioning away from its T-Mobile Tuesdays rewards program to a new program called “T Life.”
T Life promises to bring offer more perks than T-Mobile Tuesdays did, and will feature some account-management functionality as well, although the T-Mobile Tuesdays name will live on, with perks continuing to be released each week on a Tuesday.
T-Mobile Magenta status customers will receive Hilton Honors Silver Elite status upon request as well as all of the benefits accruing thereto. This includes complimentary in-room Wi-Fi and a fifth night without charge on visits booked with reward points.
In addition, T-Mobile Magenta status customers have access to “Refuel or Recharge on Us.”  Travelers renting a petrol- or diesel-fueled automobile from Dollar Rent a Car need not fill up the tank before returning it and those renting electric vehicles from Hertz Car Rental won’t be penalized if they don’t recharge their EVs before returning.  This benefit is available at almost all airports, the company said, although it did not provide a list when a reporter called and requested one.
Other Magenta benefits include $5 movie tickets for a different film each month, and the Shell Fuel Rewards discount and complimentary Gold status benefits will continue from T-Mobile Tuesdays as will free items from Little Caesars pizzerias.
When T-Mobile unveiled its new T-Mobile Tuesdays customer rewards program in 2016, it sounded too good to be true: The mobile operator promised to give its customers free Dominos pizzas, movies, Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi, and Wendy’s Frostys. And, in part, it was.
In the first half of June that year, T-Mobile made headlines when it failed to deliver what it had promised when its servers were overloaded by the demand, namely free pizza pies. While some customers reported getting their free pizzas, posting photographic evidence on Twitter, many more tweeted that they were unable to take advantage of the offer.
While some reported getting their free pizzas, posting photographic evidence on what was then called Twitter, many more tweeted that they were unable to take advantage of the offer.
“Still seeing huge #TMobileTuesdays app volume, but we’re making good! You won’t lose anything and we’ll make this right ASAP,” T-Mobile CEO John Legere said in social media posts.
