Apple unveiled Apple Sports, a user-customizable and free app for the iPhone that offers real-time scores and stats.
The app is now available for download in the Apple App Store in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada at no charge.
“Apple Sports gives fans a simple and fast way to stay up to speed on the teams and leagues they love,” the company said in a statement.
Sports fans will be able to use the app to customize their scoreboards to follow their favorite teams and leagues, and follow play-by-play information, team stats, lineup details.  The app integrates with the Apple TV app  and users can watch live games with just one tap.  In addition, the Apple Sports app will also sync with anything have marked as a favorite in the Apple News app.
At launch, it offers access to the Bundesliga, Germany’s primary football competition comprised of 18 teams including FC Bayern München, Bayer Leverkusen, and Schalke 04; Major League Soccer, the sport’s highest level in the United States, which includes the New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union;  the National Basketball Association league, considered the leading professional basketball league in the world, whose teams include the Brooklyn Nets, the Boston Celtics, and the Los Angeles Lakers; and the Premier League, the highest level of England’s football system, whose teams include Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspurs.
Apple Sports also offers access to scores and stats from the Collegiate Athletic Association basketball, the National Hockey League, Liga MX, Ligue 1, and Serie A.
Major League Baseball, the highest level of organized baseball in the United States whose teams include the New York Mets, New York Yankees, the San Francisco Giants (formerly the New York Giants), and the Los Angeles Dodgers (formerly the Brooklyn Dodgers), is not yet available as the 2024 baseball season won’t start until March 28. National Football League, home to the New York Jets, the New York Giants, the Green Bay Packers, and the Philadelphia Eagles is also not yet available but will presumably become available when the 2024 season starts in September.
