Spring Arrives Tomorrow… But Tell That to the 170 Million in the U.S. Who Are Shivering

Spring officially arrives tomorrow, Tuesday, but for millions of people across the eastern United States, the weather outside is more frightful than delightful.
“A cold front followed by a clipper storm will bring periods of snow to the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. through midweek,” the National Weather Service said in a weather statement Monday morning.
Roughly 170 million people are seeing colder-than-average temperatures at the start of the week, a dramatic shift from the almost summer-like weather that preceded it.
Meanwhile, the western half of the country is seeing warmer-than-average temperatures.
But wait, there’s more…
The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for ten states in the South. Temperatures are expected to plunge below the freezing mark, 32° F (0° C).
More than 25 million people across the South and Southeast – from Texas to the Carolinas – are being warned of below-freezing temperatures and farmers have been urged to protect their crops.
And finally, the NWS is warning of winter-like conditions caused by lake-effect snow in northern states close to the U.S.-Canada border.
“A strong system moving across southern Canada will trigger lake-effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes,” the meteorological service said, also on Monday.
