Entrance of the Ritz-Carlton, Maison Orleans
A man hijacked a Los Angeles Metro bus using a BB gun and forced the bus driver to speed the bus through the streets before crashing into the entrance and lobby of a Ritz-Carlton hotel, transit officials said.
The incident began at 11:10 p.m. PDT on Wednesday when Anai Lindsey reportedly made verbal threats to the driver.  Lindsey then reached into his waistband as if he had a gun and told the bus driver “Just drive!” police said.
No other passengers were on the bus at the time, according to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The bus driver attempted to make a left turn at which point Lindsey grabbed the steering wheel.  This caused the bus to hit several vehicles, police said. One of the vehicles was occupied.
The bus ultimately crashed into the Ritz Carlton, Los Angeles hotel, at which time Lindsey fled on foot.  He was was later arrested and is being held on $100,000 bail.
The BB gun was recovered in front of the hotel.
The bus driver and one individual in the occupied vehicle were transported to a local hospital, authorities said.  The bus driver has since been released while the other victim remains hospitalized.  He is in stable condition, authorities said Thursday evening.
A spokesman for the Ritz-Carlton hotel had no comment at press time but said that the property was open and guests were able to check in without any difficulty.
