Essential Baby First Aid Kit Items for Travel

Overpackers Anonymous

I am frequently accused of being an overpacker (see  The Mother of all Packing Lists  and  Carry-On Packing List ). But, I am a firm believer in making things easy for yourself when traveling with little kids!

These are guidelines, not  everything  on these lists is essential. However, it is essential to ensure you have a well-stocked baby first aid kit for your peace of mind.

Baby First Aid Essentials

Your baby first aid kit for travel will vary depending on your child’s age and also the trip you’re taking.

However, there are some definite essential first aid kit items for babies and toddlers that you shouldn’t leave home without…

Essential Baby First Aid Kit Items:

Thermometer

Advil Pediatric Drops or Children’s Advil

Children’s Antihistamine (if child is over 2)

Nail Clippers

Tweezers

Petroleum Jelly

Zinc-based diaper cream

Saline spray/nasal aspirator

Disinfecting spray/wipes

Antibiotic cream

Assorted bandages

Oral rehydration mix

Cotton swabs

Dropper/Oral Syringe

Prepared for Anything

With these first aid kit items on hand at all times you are prepared for just about anything. To be more specific, with this baby first aid kit you can manage fever, colds, potential allergies, splinters, scrapes and/or cuts, dehydration, and diaper rash.

Probably one of the most essential items for travel with a baby or toddler is Advil Pediatric Drops . They can help manage fevers for up to 8 hours and provide relief of pain due to colds, earaches, and sore throat.

First Aid for Travel and Every Day

I always kept a baby first aid kit with me and I still carry a modified one today. It’s a good idea to have version specifically for travel.

I learned to keep a separate first aid kit for travel the hard way, when I forgot to resupply my everyday one and had no bandages on hand for a banged-up knee!

Access to First Aid Essentials

Some vacation destinations don’t have great access to drugstores or pharmacies to purchase forgotten items. And even if you’re not staying in a remote location, having to locate a store at all when dealing with a sick baby is not fun.

With a well-stocked baby first aid kit, you’ll be able to manage most issues right away. Even if you do require further medical attention, having the right items on-hand will provide some breathing room to (hopefully) calmly find what other products or services you or your child may require.

This post is brought to you by Children’s Advil but the images and opinions are my own. Be sure this product is right for you. Always read and follow the label.
