Hilton Cabana Miami Beach Review: Unwind and Stay in Style

Colors, flavors, smells, and sounds blend on the sun-drenched coastline that is Miami Beach. Blending its multicultural heritage into an explosion of memorable experiences for locals and tourists, Miami Beach welcomes visitors in a warm embrace.

Make the Hilton Cabana Miami Beach Resort , a Hilton Hotels property, your home base. At the same time, explore everything from Art Deco architecture to historic buildings, elegant facades, neon signs, and, of course, the stunning soft white sand beaches as far as the eye can see.

Hilton Cabana Miami Beach Resort hosted my visit. However, all opinions are my own.

History of Hilton Cabana Miami Beach

The Hilton Cabana Miami Beach Resort, located in the North Beach Resort Historic District, was previously known as The Allison Hotel and was constructed in 1951. The hotel’s post-war modern architecture, also known as Miami Modern or “MiMo,” showcased the inventive use of advancements like air conditioning.

After almost 75 years, the hotel preserved its legacy while undergoing a thorough renovation that blends modern facilities with nods to its rich past. The restaurant’s name, Allison, also pays tribute to its historic roots.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Hilton Cabana Miami Beach is centrally located within the exclusive neighborhood of Millionaire’s Row in Mid-Beach Miami, just four miles from South Beach. Direct access to the beach is across Miami Beachwalk behind the property.

Miami’s classic art deco stylings blend with a relaxed, colorful Caribbean vibe, and vintage artwork brings a creative air to this boutique-style resort. Take a dip in the two ocean-facing outdoor pools featuring poolside cabanas, unwind on the private beach, paddle board in the Atlantic Ocean, and explore the 9-mile oceanfront Miami Beachwalk with complimentary bike rentals.

Location

The resort is conveniently located on Collins Ave at 63rd Street near popular city attractions and offers 119 feet of Atlantic Ocean beachfront property. It’s also close to Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, the Aventura Mall, Bal Harbour, and the Design District.

Close to South Beach

I took a rideshare to South Beach and enjoyed a stroll along Ocean Boulevard. I was entertained by athletes training on Muscle Beach, explored the Art Deco architecture, and was lured to the colorful restaurants where people go to be seen.

SheBuysTravel Tip : During my visit in February, heavy construction caused traffic delays in the afternoons and evenings. Consider using ridesharing services and allow extra time for travel in the area.

Accommodations

The enormous expanse of the lobby more than makes up for the one-car valet drop at the front of the building. The retro-futuristic landscape feels like stepping into a postcard from the 1930s.

Artfully designed with warm tones and bold touches, the 231 refurbished guest rooms are simultaneously cosmopolitan, Caribbean, and Miami-relaxed. This was my first visit to Miami Beach, and I felt comfortable and at home at the Hilton Cabana Miami Beach Resort.

Dining at the Hilton Cabana Miami Beach Resort

Enjoy an exciting fusion of Caribbean and Latin American cuisine at the signature Allison Restaurant & Bar. Play cornhole or watch sports on the big-screen TV with your cocktails; you’re steps away from good meals and entertainment for solo travelers, families, and couples.

Dinner

I wanted to go light for my dinner meal, so I ordered the Simple Greens salad and an Arancini on the Starter menu. The salad was fresh and crisp local greens, artfully shaved veggies, and puffed rice with a citrus vinaigrette. The bowl was heaping with beauty, and I felt so virtuous ordering such a healthy meal. The arancini was a deep-fried coconut curry shrimp, saffron risotto, and roasted pineapple jalapeńo chutney ball, just the right size for a light main course.

Lunch

I ordered the El Cubano sandwich, mojo braised pork shoulder, country ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and dijonnaise for lunch. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like a French baguette. I chose the tostones as my side dish. Tostones are a staple in the Caribbean and Latin America. These savory tostones, made with unripe green plantains, accompanied the sandwich perfectly.

Breakfast

The Coffee House is open from 6:30 am until noon. They make delicious fresh coffee beverages and serve them at the retro diner counter along with a made-to-order breakfast or sweet rolls and muffins, or you can take them to go. I was delighted to have my favorite breakfast–avocado toast with smoked salmon and a decaf latte.
