An Epic Adventure Aboard the Odyssey of the Seas Cruise Ship!

If you’re looking for an unforgettable cruising experience, look no further than the Odyssey of the Seas! This floating oasis offers something for everyone, from lavish entertainment and cuisine to incredible shore excursions. I recently had the pleasure of sailing on this magnificent vessel and wanted to share my experience with you in case you’re considering a cruise aboard this beautiful ship!
Odyssey of the Seas Review
Odyssey of the Seas is a phenomenal ship for families packed with endless amounts of fun and good food. Whether you are traveling with little kids or tweens and teens your family will have a great time on the Odyssey because it is loaded with many amenities and it’s newer which means the latest technology.
I had the chance to sail aboard the massive Odyssey of the Seas one of Royal Caribbean’s newest ships for the naming of the ship when they provided me a complimentary stay. When the ship is at full capacity there can be 5,498 passengers aboard and 1,550 staff.
My experience aboard the Odyssey of the Seas was absolutely magical. From the moment I stepped onto the ship, I felt like I had been transported into another world. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and they went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The cabins were spacious and comfortable, and each one came equipped with all of the amenities necessary for an enjoyable stay.

Stellar Restaurants and Bars
The food on board was truly out of this world; the chefs created dishes that were both delicious and artfully presented. My favorite restaurant by far was Hooked Seafood—the seafood was so fresh that it tasted like it had been caught just minutes before being served!
The Odyssey ship has 15 restaurants inspired by world-class cuisine. Some of these dining options cost extra, but many are included in the cost of the cruise. Meals included in your cruise are the main dining room, the Windjammer Cafe buffet, Solarium Bistro, Sorrento’s Pizza, Cafe @ Two70, Cafe Promenade, El Loco Fresh, snacks from Sprinkles Ice Cream and a continental breakfast room service. Guests stay in suites also have Coastal Kitchen included.
Windjammer Cafe Buffet
Compared to another Royal Caribbean ship I was on, this buffet was next level. It was almost twice the size of the other one and had a ton of seafood options.
Sorrento’s Pizza
This pizza hits the spot on those late nights on the ship. It was good for lunch too, but this is the perfect place to grab a few slices of pizza after an evening of drinking or dancing.
Teppanyaki
This is a Far East-inspired restaurant.
While onboard, I went to two of the restaurants that cost extra, Wonderland and American steakhouse Chops Grille.
Wonderland
This is an Alice and Wonderland-themed restaurant and it’s absolutely whimsical. At the beginning, they bring out a paintbrush and a small board. You use your paintbrush and water to unveil the menu. Throughout your meal, their are magical touches like this to keep you entertained.
Chops Grille
Chops Grille is an American steakhouse with cooked-to-perfection steaks topped with delicious sauces like peppercorn sauce.
Giovani’s
On another sailing, I ate at Giovani’s an Italian restaurant and it was fantastic, so I also recommend eating there. The gnocchi and carbonara are to die for.
Robot Bar
The robotic bar is super fun to watch but it takes forever to get your drink. You put in your order on a tablet to indicate exactly what you want and then wait for one of the robotic arms to make your drink. I recommend grabbing a drink from somewhere else so you have a drink in your hand while you wait on this drink. You can watch the board with names to know when your drink is about to be made.
Cool Activities on Board

Physical Activities
There are a ton of things to do onboard the Odyssey including super cool stuff like surfing on a 40-foot-long FlowRider, indoor skydiving (extra cost), Sky Pad VR bungee trampolines, bumper cars, and a 40-foot rock climbing wall. There are lots of old-school activities you expect like shuffleboard, basketball, and more.
One game that was new to me was a pool table on the ground where you use soccer balls to play pool. I have no idea what to call this but it is super fun to play.
For an extra cost, you can go up in the North Star observation capsule. It takes you up 300 feet above sea level for the best views at sea. Do not do this on a day at sea because all you will see is the sea. Wait until you are at a really cool port with lots to see all around like Barcelona or Genoa.
If at all possible make reservations before you board to do the indoor skydiving and FlowRider. These fill up fast. If you can’t beforehand do it the moment you board.
Decks with Pools and Bars
The Odyssey features a resort-style pool deck that brings fun, colorful island vibes poolside. The bar at the pool has a fantastic drink. I can’t remember what it is, but it’s the only place you can get it on board.
They had a lot of entertainment out on the deck like a sailing away party and live music throughout the day.

Social180 Teen Club

Teens have their own hangout not far from the bumper car area with the latest in gaming, music, and movies. They also have their very own outdoor deck called The Patio.
Adventure Ocean
Adventure Ocean’s new look encourages kids to chart their own adventures with open spaces and free play. There are multiple sections where it is broken down into separate ages like babies, toddlers, and elementary-aged kids.
Entertainment
The entertainment options were also top-notch; there were live music performances every night as well as Broadway-style shows and movies on deck during the day. Entertainment options include theatrical performances, live music, a casino, outdoor movie nights, and more.
I always avoid the casino since it is one of the only places that allow smoking on the ship.
Accommodations
They have a lot of different accommodation options for families including rooms that can accommodate a larger family. I stayed in a fairly small room with a balcony. It slept two people easily but if you need to use the couch as a bed it will be a bit crowded. Doable for sure, but crowded.
For those that need something cheaper, there are interior rooms and for those that can splurge there are multi-level suites that will blow your mind.
Coco Cay
If you are cruising in the Caribbean chances are high you will have a stopover at Coco Cay. This is Royal Caribbean’s private island and you are going to love it for a multitude of reasons. It’s separated into sections. One area has a water park, other parts just have beautiful stretches of beach.

If you’re looking for a luxurious vacation that offers something for everyone, then look no further than a cruise aboard Odyssey of the Seas ! From its attentive staff to its amazing food options to its stunning itineraries, this is one cruising experience that you won’t soon forget! So pack your bags and set sail on your odyssey—you won’t regret it!

Get Travel Insuranc e

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

Book Flight s

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO .

Rent Clothes

Rent clothes for your trip with Travel Style Expert for only $50 a month! The first 30 days are free!

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Get Your Guide and Viator . If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar . They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If I am going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean I use Apple Vacations .

Rent a Car or Take a Lyft

More often than not Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit ! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars .

Save Money on Gas

Upside , a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase .
