Marriott International announced the next generation of Westin Hotels & Resorts’ Heavenly Bed.
The newest Heavenly Bed comes after the hotel chain conducted dozens of focus groups with thousands of guests.
The completely redesigned Heavenly Bed features a plush-top mattress with silver fiber weave on top of layers of temperature-regulating gel-infused memory foam.
Westin promises a “super sleep experience” from the new mattress due to these upgrades.
Westin, which at one point had been owned by United Airlines before being sold to Starwood Hotels and Resorts in 1994, introduced the Heavenly Bed mattresses in its guest rooms in 1999. The beds were manufactured by the Simmons Bedding Company.
The beds were far from the only innovation the upscale hotel brand has made. Westin – a contraction of its original corporate name, Western International – was the first hotel chain to accept guest credit cards back in 1924, 24-hour room service in 1969, and personal voice mail for each guest room in 1991.
Westin has also sold over half a million Heavenly Beds in its online Westin Store.
In addition, Westin has worked with several airlines to provide in-flight bedding and pillows for passenger comfort.
