Frozen Raspberry Gin and Tonic

Looking for a refreshing drink to help you beat the heat? Our Frozen Raspberry Gin and Tonic is delicious and so easy to make. It’s the perfect summer companion.

This cocktail is packed with a combination of tangy and sweet flavors. According to Distiller.com , mixing fruit with gin is one of the most popular cocktail combinations of 2024, reminiscent of the fruit liqueurs popular in Paris in the early 1900s.

We couldn’t wait to try it using regular gin and frozen raspberries, and we have to agree, it’s fresh, slightly fizzy, and had us going back for seconds.

What You Need to Make It

Simple ingredients make the best cocktails!

1/4 cup frozen raspberries: you can buy them frozen or buy them fresh and freeze.

4 ounces gin: we used Tanqueray but you can use your favorite gin.

2 ounces fresh-squeezed lemon juice: use fresh, not bottled.

4 ounces tonic water: any kind will do

2 ounces simple syrup: store-bought or make your own.

2 1/2 cups ice: crushed is better than cubed, but both work.

How to Make a Frozen Raspberry Gin & Tonic

Add the gin into the empty blender. We’re adding the ice next.

Add ice.

Add the frozen raspberries and simple syrup.

Pour in lemon juice and tonic.

Blend on high just until smooth. Overblending can make the drink taste watered down.

Pour mixture into tall glasses.

Serve right away.

Substitutions and Variations

As suggested, we used the classic gin brand of Tanqueray, but you can use any brand. We like high-quality gin over the lower priced brands. Too many strong botanicals will compete for flavor, so keep that in mind when making this raspberry gin cocktail.

Use any fruit you like if you’re not a fan of raspberries. Any frozen berries will work, or you can freeze fresh strawberries or blueberries.

Feel free to use fresh lime juice over lemon juice.

To switch up the flavors, try adding fresh mint leaves or basil leaves to the blender to give this cocktail an herbal twist.

Frozen Raspberry Gin and Tonic FAQs

Can I use another type of fruit? You can use any fruit you’d like. It is best to freeze it for a few hours before making the cocktail. Is there an alternative if I don’t have a blender? You don’t have to make this a frozen drink. Simply add ingredients to a cocktail shaker with lots of ice and shake well, pouring the mixture over fresh ice in a tall glass. Can I make this drink non-alcoholic? You can! Simply add more tonic water or a juice of your liking in place of the gin. You may be able to find a non-alcoholic gin brand, too.

Top Tips

Use only the best and freshest ingredients.

Gin: For the best flavor, use a good quality gin. Some gins have very strong botanical flavors that can overpower the sweetness in this drink. We used Tanqueray which is perfect for a sweeter cocktail. Bombay Sapphire is also a traditional tasting gin and works well. Fruit gins are fun, too.

Fresh Lemon Juice: Use fresh lemon juice for this frozen raspberry gin and tonic. Bottled lemon juice just does not do it justice.

Chill Your Glasses: Nothing will ruin a frozen drink more than a warm glass. For best results, place your glasses in the freezer for about 15 minutes before making this drink. Chilling the glasses helps keep this frosty drink colder for longer, especially on hot summer days.

Chill the gin: Keeping the gin in the freezer or in a cooler of ice will also help keep your slushy drinks cold.

Simple Syrup:

Don’t have simple syrup? It’s easy to make by just dissolving equal parts sugar and water over low heat. You’ll want to let it cool completely before using. In fact, make it a day ahead if you can. Taste and add until you achieve just the right bit sweetness to your preference.

Blending Time:

You’ll want to blend this cocktail just until it’s smooth. If you blend for too long, the ice can melt, diluting the cocktail. You could even freeze tonic water ice cubes which will reduce the amount of liquid and bring out that tonic flavor.

Garnish : We always like to garnish our cocktails, though it’s completely optional. Fresh raspberries, a slice of lemon, or a sprig of mint work well.
