An Austrian Airlines aircraft suffered  damage from a sudden hailstorm while in flight on Sunday.
Austrian Flight OS434 was en route from Palma de Mallorca Airport to Flughafen Wien-Schwechat, or Vienna Airport when it hit a “thunderstorm cell,” Austrian Airlines said to Frequent Business Traveler and The Travelist in a statement.
The hail caused damage to the cockpit windows and some coverings and the nose. Photos posted on social media appeared to show that the nose had been broken off.
The storm hit the aircraft approximately 20 minutes before its scheduled landing time and was accompanied by turbulence.
“We could definitely feel the hail coming down on the plane,” a passenger said in a post on social media.
The aircraft, an Airbus A320, landed safely at Vienna Airport, and no passenger injuries were reported.
