Four Seasons Bora Bora

In the lexicon of luxury travel, there’s a phrase that conjures images of azure skies blending seamlessly with even bluer waters, where the sun kisses the horizon with a painter’s grace, and where service isn’t just personalized but practically prescient. That phrase is “ Four Seasons Bora Bora ,” a name that’s synonymous with the pinnacle of opulent escapism.
As someone who has trotted across the globe with a penchant for the lavish and an eye for the exquisite, I find myself drawn back, time and again, to the enchanting allure of this Polynesian paradise. JK, I’ve only been once. But regardless of this, allow me to regale you with the marvels of staying at this jewel of the South Pacific, particularly the otherworldly experience of residing in an overwater bungalow.
From the moment you set foot on the private island enveloping the Four Seasons Bora Bora, you’re transported into a realm where every whim is catered to with an effortless elegance. The resort is an ode to luxury, blending the rustic charm of thatched-roof bungalows with the cutting-edge comforts that are the hallmark of the Four Seasons brand. Each aspect of the property, from the lush landscapes to the serene spas, the gourmet dining options to the myriad aquatic adventures, is meticulously curated to ensure your stay is nothing short of spectacular.
When you arrive by boat (the only way you can arrive) there are musicians playing music and draping flowers over your head while other workers wait to check you in as quick as possible. Once checked in they can whisk you by golf cart to wherever you need to go. We got there before our room was ready so we were whisked away to the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. 
After stuffing our faces full of carbs and killing more than a few cappuccinos, hello jetlag, we were picked back up by a golf cart and shown to our room. You can get a golf cart to basically pick you up anywhere on property. 
Overwater Bungalows
Now, let’s wade a little deeper into the crystalline waters and talk about the pièce de résistance of any stay here: the overwater bungalow. Imagine waking up to a canvas of watercolor blues outside your window, your senses immediately greeted by the soft lull of waves gently kissing the stilts of your private sanctuary. These bungalows aren’t just rooms; they are cocoons of luxury suspended over the tranquil lagoon, offering unparalleled views of Mount Otemanu. Designed with Polynesian influences and contemporary elegance, the interiors are spacious, with natural woods and traditional art accenting every corner, ensuring that your stay is as visually pleasing as it is comfortable.
Now, you are thinking to yourself, good grief what a ridiculous description. In my defense, they were so freaking awesome and it’s hard to put into words the vibes you are feeling while staying here. I did the best I could. 
The overwater bungalows come equipped with all the trimmings of a high-end resort: plush bedding, state-of-the-art entertainment systems, and, of course, room service that brings the world to your doorstep at the ring of a bell. 
Stepping outside, your private deck awaits, with loungers poised for sunbathing or stargazing and steps that descend directly into the lagoon, inviting you to blend into the aquatic tableau at your leisure. It’s an experience that epitomizes the essence of connection – with nature, with serenity, and with the very soul of indulgence.
Sadly, my bungalow didn’t have the private pool. What can I say, I am a single mom, the budget only goes so far. I was fine using the main pool or swimming in the water. 
 
Activities
Beyond the confines of your bungalow, the resort offers a plethora of activities to satiate the appetite of any adventure-seeker or relaxation-enthusiast. From snorkeling in the coral gardens to exploring the island on a guided jet ski tour, the experiences are as diverse as they are captivating. And for those moments when doing absolutely nothing is the agenda, the holistic spa awaits to envelop you in pampering.
Snorkeling the Lagoon
Snorkeling in the lagoon is a must. It’s shallow and full of fish. There’s nothing worse than going snorkeling and seeing just a handful of fish. Here they’ve solved that problem cause it’s got plenty of fish. (Fun worthless information, I’ve heard Plenty of Fish is the worst dating app currently on the planet. Since I know how bad Tinder is, that’s really saying something.)
Relax at the Spa
The spa is delightful. Cause, well it’s a spa. What kind of spa isn’t delightful? I loved the hot tub looking towards the resort over the one looking towards the ocean. It’s a great place to snag some Instagrammable photos. I’m not saying you should steal one of the flowers sitting on the counter in the locker room to put in your hair for said photos, but I am also not saying not to. 
Dining 

The Four Seasons Bora Bora is not all-inclusive but they still have an assortment of dining options. The nachos at the main restaurant are big enough to split and the pizza is definitely big enough to split. I split the pizza three ways!
In the evenings, the resort transforms into a stage for Polynesian culture, with traditional dances and fire shows that illuminate the night. The dining, too, is an affair to remember, with restaurants serving a mélange of international cuisines, each plate a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, complemented by views that make each meal a memory in itself. (Full transparency, I only stayed the day here. So, I didn’t actually see the show. But I saw some videos and it looked good. I know, I know, I should have disclosed this higher up in the article. My bad.)

In essence, the Four Seasons Bora Bora is not just a destination; it’s a voyage to the heart of paradise, where every detail is crafted with the discerning traveler in mind. Staying in an overwater bungalow here is akin to living in a dream where the world is at once both overwhelmingly beautiful and intimately yours. It’s a testament to the fact that in the realm of luxury travel, there are experiences, and then there are experiences – and a stay at the Four Seasons Bora Bora firmly belongs to the latter category, etching itself into the heart as indelibly as the vistas it overlooks.
