Bluetooth headphones are great—until you want to use them to watch movies or TV shows on your flight. Most seat back screens are not Bluetooth-equipped, but there's an easy solution.
Airlines have lagged behind when it comes to Bluetooth connectivity, especially for economy passengers. While airlines like Delta and United have begun rolling it out on select aircraft, not every plane or cabin has this feature. How Does the AirFly Work?
If your seat back entertainment screen on your flight doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity, you'll need a device like Twelve South's AirFly.
First, you'll need to pair your wireless headphones with the device. Put your headphones into pairing mode and hold down the power button on the AirFly to connect both devices. On future uses, they should automatically connect.
Then plug the AirFly into the headphone jack on your monitor and start watching movies, TV shows, and more. Keep in mind that each airline has a different inflight system, so the audio quality and compatibility of the device may vary.
The AirFly needs to be charged for it to work. You can easily charge it with a USB-C charger, and a full battery should last about 20 hours – more than enough for even the longest international flight.

The AirFly should work with any Bluetooth-enabled headphones. I've used it with my Apple AirPods and Skullcandy Crusher Evo headphones while several of my Thrifty Traveler colleagues have used it with their Bose noise-canceling headphones.
