As a full service travel agent I was invited to stay and tour the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. As always, all opinions are my own.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta: Family-Friendly All-Inclusive Resort on the West Coast of Mexico

Where is the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta?
Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful city on the west coast of Mexico. This area has a cruise port, and is a popular spot for ex-pats to rent/purchases condos/second homes. It’s a very safe area to leave the resort and explore. Puerto Vallarta offers a more authentic Mexican experience than you might find in some of the other touristy towns in Mexico like Cancun or Playa del Carmen .

The Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful resort on a gorgeous beach just south of the downtown. Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is about 20-30 minutes from the airport and a short ($5) cab ride to downtown.

Located on a protected cove, the beach ends up being private since you can only access it from the resort. The beach here is so beautiful, it is swimmable, and from this resort you will see the most amazing sunsets. And there is no seaweed here.
I have stayed at the Hyatt Zilara in Cancun (Adults-only) and toured both the Hyatt Ziva in Cancun and Hyatt Ziva in Cap Cana, Dominican Republic – this resort still has the same amazing food and service as the other Ziva’s but is much, much smaller.

Rooms at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is made up of two towers – the club tower and the main tower. Currently the club tower is fully renovated, and the main tower is undergoing an update set to finish by the fall of 2022.
The club tower rooms are a bit more modern, larger, and club level guests have access to the club level lounge. The resort is small, so there are no other club level only amenities, all guests have access to all beaches, pools and restaurants.

All of the rooms at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta are oceanview or oceanfront. In the club tower, all of the rooms have balconies. In the main tower, some have full balconies, some rooms have Juliet balconies.
PRO-TIP: If you are not booking a club level room, be sure to see if “balcony” is in your room description. If not, your room does not have a balcony.
Choosing an all-inclusive resort can be tough. Some are big, some are small, some are on the beach, some just near it. Some resorts have better food, more drink options, and more entertainment than others. Of course, there is your budget to consider as well!
For those reasons, it’s always best to consult with a travel professional to help find the perfect resort for you next vacation. And the best part? My services are free!
That’s right, you get full on, personalized, concierge vacation planning service, and it does not cost you a cent more! In fact, a package vacation with one of my preferred suppliers can often save you money on your trip!

Rooms are configured in a one king, with sofa bed, or a two double configuration (with sofa bed in the club tower so those rooms can sleep five).
In both towers, swim up rooms are available, with various age restrictions (I believe that is Mexican law, not a resort policy).

Restaurants at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
The Hyatt Ziva is a small resort, so there are not a ton of restaurants, but there are enough to rotate through during your stay!
For breakfast, the options would be the buffet, room service (available 24 hours a day), or Blaze, located right on the beach for ala carte dining. Don’t forget to stop by the coffee and juice bar by the main tower if you need a quick breakfast.
PS That “avocado” is actually a dessert! Food at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta was so good!
For lunch, Italian (Melanzane), the buffet and Blaze were open daily, along with the coffee shop which has sandwiches and pastries available. Out by the pool there were various food carts serving hamburgers and hot dogs.
For dinner at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta there are several options and no reservations are required for any of the restaurants. One night, we did have to wait for a table, but not too long!
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta dinner options include :
Buffet
Italian at Melanzane
Mexican at Casa Grande
Blaze for steaks and seafood
Asian at Puzreta
There is also food served up at the sports bar, Hyghlights!
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta PRO-TIP: Be sure to check the restaurants schedule when you arrive. Not all of the restaurants are open each night for dinner. Look at the options so you can plan out your week!

Activities at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
For a smaller resort, there is tons to do at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. In addition to the amazing beach and multiple pools, there are all of the water sports you can do. Yes, you can swim in the ocean at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta.

You can take out a kayak or stand up paddleboard from the beach or join the daily kayak tour. There is also a jungle tour offered complimentary which takes you on a 90-minute guided hike.
For fitness lovers, there is a great gym, along with various fitness classes (Paddle Yoga, jump fit etc.) offered throughout the week – check the TVs in the lobby for the class times.

For the kids, there’s not a large drop off kids club, but organized outdoor activities for the little ones.
Lastly, spa lovers will enjoy an hour long hydrotherapy circuit for a small charge or schedule an appointment for a treatment at the largest spa In Puerto Vallarta. We did the hydrotherapy on our visit and it was a divine way to end the day.

Destination Weddings at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is the perfect resort for private events, like destination weddings, meeting groups, or family gatherings.
On my recent stay, I saw four weddings take place, and our group had a gorgeous on-the beach farewell dinner and cocktail party.

On our first night, we had a beautiful cocktail party on a patio by the beach so they are able to accommodate parties of all sizes! When I visited there was a wedding taking place for over 120 guests.
For meetings (like ours), the indoor conference rooms are right on site, so the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta would be a great option for a corporate retreat or training.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Review
I really enjoyed my time in Puerto Vallarta, and the Hyatt Ziva is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in the area. The beach at the Hyatt Ziva is so beautiful, and the views from the rooms are incredible.
On my recent stay, the service was outstanding, even with all of the wedding events going on.

I also liked that there were a ton of chairs on the beach, plenty of palapas as well, so you don’t need to get up at 5am to find a chair.
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is a family-friendly resort, but I do think this is a great property for an adults only trip or friends group.

I think families with smaller kids would also love this resort. The activities for the kids skewed toward younger ones and there is a small kiddie pool.
Older kids who love watersports would definitely love this resort, and with its great proximity to downtown, this is the perfect location to explore the region. But at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, there are not really any dedicated tween or teen activities so that might be something to consider.
Overall, I loved my stay at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, and I can’t wait to send more lucky clients here!
