What's On in the North East for Kids & Teens - February 2023

It's so nice to have things to look forward to this month including lambs being born, snowdrops flowering, Valentines Day, Pancake Day and Half Term. I really hope you sign up and make the most of these features. Lambing at Spilmans I don't know about you but the arrival of lambs fills me with so much hope. Spring is finally on it's way! This February, Spilmans Farm is hosting a special 'Lambing Live' event. Designed to encourage little farmers to learn all about this special event, there are a range of activities included: Lambs born every day - visitors can watch and take it all in. I have been lucky to see this once and I can't explain how emotional it is! It's something we will never forget Hourly educational talks by the farm's sheep farmer and shepherd across the day where you will learn lots of lambing facts Visit the other farm animals including the farm's friendly Alpacas and Rare Breed Sheep You can touch the animals but it is at your own risk and please use the handwashing facilities on site and supervise children. Pregnant women should read guidance before visiting Visit newly born lambs in the lambing shed Create your own wool crafts to take home and remember the day Photo opportunities around the site Food and drinks will be available to purchase on the day This event takes place daily from 11 - 20 February. Tickets are £6.50 per person and under 2s are free (but still require a ticket. Find out more and book here. Kynren February Ticket Deal Kynren is the most incredible experience and we are so lucky to have it here in the North East. FREE Family Fun Days at The Common Room Newcastle Join the Common Room on 23/24/25 February for some FREE family fun / STEM workshops based around the Bicentenary of Robert Stephenson & Co. These workshops are suitable for ages 5+ and you will need to reserve a free ticket in advance. Under 12s need to be supervised by an adult. FREE Activities include: Make a train whistle Assemble a LEGO train Discover the challenge of driving a train using Scaletrix Visit the Robert Stephenson Exhibition Find out more and reserve your free tickets here. The Common Room is located next to Newcastle Central Station so super easy to get to by public transport and if you'd like to make a day of it, it's easy to combine with a trip to Life or Discovery Museum (who are also running a transport themed week). The building is accessible. FREE Youth Theatre Group - Sign Up Now Know a young person aged 7-19 years who would be interested in joining a Youth Theatre Group? Mortal Fools is now accepting new members. It's completely free to attend and if you sign up before February Half Term, you'll be able to participate in their new spring/summer project and interactive performance in July.
