This fab little role play café is designed with children under the age of 7 in mind. Older children are welcome but have to be mindful of littler ones playing in the same area. There are lots of small world shops, cafe, police station, hair salon, builders etc for kids to let their imagination to run wild. The seating is in the centre of the room so you can keep an eye on your little one while you enjoy a cuppa and cake (they do proper coffee and have delicious home baked cakes). They also have a new extra large lego room for little ones to enjoy.   Sessions are 9:30am to 11.30am &  12.30pm to 2.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Online booking is advised, but you can turn up at the start of a session and if they have room your child can play. The sessions last for one hour and if you arrive part way through a session you only get the remainder of the hour in the pool so make sure you turn up at the start! There's no café currently, there used to be one pre-Covid but there is no confirmation of whether they'll start it up again.   If you live in county Durham you can apply for free Thrive cards which get you a discount as well as free swimming in the school holidays for under 18s.   Cost: Adult £4.20   Child £3.80 Under 1s £1 No booking required Adult to child ratios are   Under 3: One adult per one child 4-7: One adult per two children Children under eight years must be accompanied by an adult. If you're after major parent brownie points, I find soft play usually does the job! Jumbo Jungle is on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Consett, the nearest bus stop is about a 10 minute walk away if you're taking public transport. This soft play has a section for babies, preschoolers and bigger kids as well as a football pitch, which my 8 year old spends most of his time on. There are often deals on their Facebook page like discounted entry at certain times, meal deals and combined entry to their sister site Ultimate Bounce (last time we visited you could go to Jumbo Jungle and Ultimate Bounce on the same day for a fiver!) So make sure you check and quote their socials.   Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/jumbojungleltd Cost: £10 per child with free entry to Ultimate Bounce the same day (check Facebook for current offer, deals change regularly) No booking required. Ultimate Bounce Trampoline Park Ultimate Bounce Trampoline Park. Number one industrial estate, Consett DH8 6TW Free car park, bus stop is 10 mins walk away. This trampoline park is a big hit with my kids. There are lots of different trampolines, a dodgeball and basketball courts, foam pit, assault course, high jump and more. As an adult you can supervise your kids but if you want to bounce too you have to pay the normal admission fee.   You have to phone up and book, there are different sessions - 10:00, 11:30 & 13:30 (plus later sessions some days e.g. Friday). The cafe has limited options and coffees are from machine, but the kids love it.   Cost: £10 per child with free entry to Jumbo Jungle the same day (check Facebook for current offer, deals change regularly). You have to ring up and book onto a session, and bring or buy trampoline socks.   Phone number: 01207508711 Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ultimatebouncezone   Empire Theatre & Cinema Front Street Consett County Durham DH8 5AB Bus station is 5 mins walk away, parking at Albert road, Consett DH8 5JU is free (3 hour limit).   The Empire theatre hosts various performances as well as two daily cinema screenings. They are limited in that they only have one screen but they often show the latest kids films, especially in the school holidays and prices are reasonable. There are booster seats for kids and you're welcome to bring your own snacks. The prices are really reasonable if you buy popcorn etc there. Ada had her first cinema experience here and she absolutely loved it. We also saw a panto here and there are often touring shows for kids performing here.
