Port Arthur – Australia dark tourism site
The dark tourism destination of Port Arthur started out as a penal colony in 1833 where England sent some of its worst criminals (including teenagers) to the other side of the earth. The location in Tasmania, Australia, was as far away from England as any convict could get sent.

The men were given the worst jobs, they were beaten, they were put in solitary confinement with the use of psychological punishment being pioneered here until the camp closed in 1877.
