5 Family-Friendly Places to Visit in Spain

Spain is a country of diverse cultures, friendly people, and delightful cuisines, making it a perfect destination for families. With excellent weather conditions and a variety of outdoor activities suitable for kids of all ages, Spain will make your family holiday truly unforgettable. If you’re planning to travel to Spain with your family and wondering which places to go, here are some of the best destinations to consider.

Tenerife

Tenerife should be on your itinerary when travelling to Spain with the family. As the largest and most populous in the Canary Islands, the island offers many exciting activities both kids and adults would love to try. Your first stop should be in Siam Park, the island’s biggest themed attraction.

San Andrés Tenerife

If your kids love marine life, you should go for a whale-watching excursion in Tenerife. Led by marine biologists who will not only guide you but will share some knowledge about the marine species, the whale-watching tour in Tenerife is a fun activity for the entire family. Another popular sea excursion in Tenerife is the submarine safari. For this activity, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the underwater world on board a submarine.

While in Tenerife, visit the Jungle Park Las Aguilas, a zoo home to a hundred different species of animals. If you prefer a more relaxing way to enjoy your family holiday, get yourself one of the family-size Tenerife holiday lettings near the coast and head to any of the beautiful beaches. Family-friendly beaches are abundant on the island, which is safe for your little ones since the water tends to be shallow.

Costa Blanca

Costa Blanca is a popular holiday destination lying on the Southeast coast of Spain along the Mediterranean Sea. It’s an ideal destination for families, home to a family-friendly resort town called Moraira .

Set against the backdrop of stunning mountains, Moraira is an old fishing town featuring a combination of sandy beaches, secluded coves, and an excellent climate. The town is lively in summer and quiet in winter, with beautiful beaches, a charming port area, and a well-maintained town centre. It’s home to several bars and restaurants, ranging from international restaurants to tapas bars and British pubs.

Spend your days exploring the historic town centre of Moraira, home to beautiful historic buildings, such as the 18th-century castle beside the sandy beach of Playa de l’Ampolla. El Portet is one of Moraira’s best-known areas, home to a beautiful beach and many high-end villas, some of which open to the panoramic views of Moraira. Check out El Portet Beach, a small but beautiful beach that can get busy during the peak tourist season. Try to visit early in the morning when it’s generally quieter.

Costa Brava

Costa Brava is an ideal destination for a family holiday. It has everything you could ever wish for a holiday – lovely beaches, great weather, unspoilt nature, historical sites, and picturesque villages. One of the best places to visit in Costa Brava is Calella de Palafrugell, a beautiful coastal town famous for its sandy beaches, rocky coves, and excellent seafood restaurants.

A family holiday in Spain is all about the beach

There’s so much to do in Calella de Palafrugell, from hiking to attending cultural events and festivals, exploring a botanical garden, and taking up adventurous sports. Of course, it also has many excellent beaches, ideal for families. Some of the best ones are the golden sand beach at Tamariu and the sandy beach of Canadell. If you venture further, you’ll come across many small bays and coves. Some of them have restaurants serving delectable seafood dishes.

Families seeking water sports will love Calella de Palafrugell since it offers plenty of opportunities for fun water activities. There are also golf courses in this coastal town and stunning mountains and woodland offering scenic hikes.

Ibiza

Ibiza is famous for being a party destination, with a vibrant nightlife and electronic dance club scene, especially in the summer. But what you may not know is that this beautiful Mediterranean Island has plenty to offer for families, including those with little kids. That might sound surprising, but family holidays in Ibiza are full of fun adventures that your kids will treasure forever.

If you look around, you’ll find that Ibiza has plenty of sleepier spots more suited to families looking for a relaxing holiday. One of the best towns ideal for families is Santa Eularia. Here, the atmosphere is very laid back and is not what you expect Ibiza to be. The area has plenty of family optimised Ibiza villas equipped with kiddie pools and other child-friendly amenities. There are also beautiful beaches nearby where you can enjoy peace and quiet, away from the bustling areas of the island.

If you’re the type of family that want to take up some fun activities, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to do so in Ibiza. The area of Santa Eularia has cycling routes where you can go biking with the family. You can rent a bike and explore on your own or join a guided biking tour. If you prefer to hike, you’ll also find many hiking trails in the area, including a 3 km easy route taking you to the only river in the Balearic.

Menorca

Menorca is home to many pristine beaches, and some of them are ideal for families with kids. Although many beaches on the island are hard to reach and more suited to those who like to discover secret beaches, there are also beaches safe enough for kids to swim in.

Having fun in Menorca with kids

Binibeca is an accessible cove in Sant Lluis , at the southern part of the island, characterized by clear waters and fine white sand. It exudes a very family-friendly atmosphere, where kids can play safely in the shallow waters surrounded by beautiful views. The beach has a lifeguard service and rental facilities for hammocks and sun loungers.

Calan Porter is another beautiful beach suitable for families. It’s perched between high cliffs, with calm waters that resemble a natural pool. Aside from lifeguard services, the beach has free showers and a first aid booth. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby where you can enjoy delicious seafood dishes.
