AD| The Family Suite at Raithwaite Sandsend – Review

The Family Suite at Raithwaite Sandsend Review – Raithwaite Sandsend is a luxury hotel in Sandsend just outside of Whitby. The beach is right opposite the start of the drive to the hotel, (which is actually a ten minute walk as the hotel grounds are huge!). The hotel is surrounded by woodland that makes for some lovely walks.

I received a call from the hotel concierge a couple of days before our stay to make sure that they had all our details correct (they did), and to check whether we wanted to ask any questions or book any services such as dinner in the restaurant or a spa treatment. I felt it was a lovely, considerate precursor of what to expect before our stay.

Check in was very smooth with lots of lovely friendly staff. We were made to feel very welcome. Indeed, all the staff we came into contact with were welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home.

We stayed in The Family Suite, which is in the Main House (there are different parts to the hotel). It was very spacious with two large bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. The main bedroom has a super king bed, large wardrobe, comfy chair and 32″ flat screen TV.

The bathroom is large with a walk in shower, underfloor heating and gorgeous Noble Isle toiletries. Both bathrooms come equipped with robes for use in the spa or just for general lounging!

The second bedroom can be made up as a super king or with twin beds. Like the main bedroom it has a 32″ flat screen TV and wardrobe.  It also has a hospitality table with tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc as well as biscuits.

The bathroom attached to this bedroom has a large tub rather than a shower.

Between both rooms you will find your living room space. It has a large sofa, two armchairs and two stools, so plenty of seating.  There is also a hospitality table here that mirrors the one in the second bedroom as well as a mini fridge. There is also another 32-in flat screen TV. Yes, that’s three 32-in flat screen TVs in the suite!

As you first enter this suite, there is a large glass wall to the left. Within this there is a door to a small roof terrace area. Here there is more seating with four outdoor armchairs and two stools. It’s a very private spot and will be perfect for stargazing as there is very little light pollution.

The spa can be found in the lower ground floor of the main house. It’s extremely convenient to get to from the family suite as the lift is very close to both the spa and the family suite so it’s very easy to come up and down in your robe.
The spa has a lovely swimming pool, sauna and steam room and is surrounded by lounges so you can relax after your swim. There is a selection of treatments to choose from that use Temple Spa products.  I’ve used one of the hotels photos of inside the spa.

Breakfast is a relaxed affair in the main restaurant. You can choose from a selection of hot meals such as a full English breakfast or Eggs Benedict. Then there is also a continental buffet where you can help yourself to cereal, fresh fruit, cheese and continental meats, fresh juices, pastries and toast.

We tried out the breakfast sandwiches which were huge doorstops and perfect to set you up for the day!

I also tried the Eggs Benedict.  It was the same ham that was also included in breakfast buffet and was some of the best ham I have tried in a long time!

We really enjoyed our stay at Raithwaite Sandsend .  It’s a fabulous hotel with lovely, welcoming staff.  Perfectly located for beach walks and trips into Whitby.

We were invited to visit and review Raithwaite Sandsend.  As always, all opinions expressed are my own.
