The Inn at SentryWorld: Great Golf and Quiet Luxury Stays

Wander With Wonder - Discovering Wow Moments Around the World or Across the Street
The Inn at SentryWorld is in Stevens Points, WI, about 90 minutes west of Green Bay. The rustic luxury golf resort promises natural beauty, casual luxury, and plenty of indoor or outdoor activities to fill your time.
In Stevens Point, Wisconsin, a long roadway flanked by numerous trees led me toward The Inn at SentryWorld . Natural stone and dark painted wood wrapped the recently completed boutique hotel, where a massive portico shielded arriving cars.
Inside the lobby, a raw wood check-in desk greeted guests. Comfortable chairs, enormous hanging quilts, and a soaring wood and stone fireplace filled the two-story common area. Additional comfortable seating dotted the adjoining sunroom/screened-in porch, where more natural stone surrounded tall windows.

It was a great place to catch gorgeous views of the large patio with a stone firepit and SentryWorld’s 18-hole, 200-acre parkland golf course. The website says the golf world favors this course because of its “playability, versatility, and stunning beauty.”
Note : SentryWorld, headquartered in Stevens Point, is owned and operated by Sentry, one of the nation’s largest mutual insurance companies.

Favored Links and National Recognition
Renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and his collaborators created these links to accommodate central Wisconsin’s beautiful landscape. The Flower Hole is the most iconic site on this course. Here 33,000 flowers create a natural panorama full of riotous color.
Playing 18 holes of golf here offers a plethora of perks in season. How often does the golf experience you book include a GPS-equipped golf cart incorporating Bluetooth speakers? Or feature complimentary snacks, beer, wine, premixed cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages from on-course refreshment stations?
Pro golfers to novices appreciate The Inn at SentryWorld’s Golf Pro Shop. There’s a wide selection of clothing and accessories, plus souvenirs. You can even order custom engraving for your metal golf bag tag.
Beyond Golf   at SentryWorld
Golf isn’t the only recreation available here. I might have visited the fitness room if my travel schedule hadn’t been tight. Or I might have walked a portion of the nearby 27-mile recreational trail. I could have attended a live concert or another special event if my timing had been better.
The Fieldhouse sports and recreation center is a perfect indoor spot to practice your golf swing or challenge a state-of-the-art golf simulator during frosty Wisconsin winters. In February, SentryWorld offered a Frosty Open Tennis Tournament indoors, too. The Fieldhouse is one of several spots on the property where large groups can reserve space for trade shows and/or corporate events year-round.
Memorable Lodging at SentryWorld
Opened near the 18th fairway in spring 2022, there’s more to The Inn at SentryWorld than views of a gorgeous, world-class golf course. My Executive Level accommodations blew me away.
The compact coffee bar offered a one-cup brewer, and several wood-faced refrigerated drawers rested below the countertop. The spacious, tile-floored bathroom featured a water closet, a deep soaker tub, and a glass-walled shower. Dual sinks flanked the wall-spanning mirror.

Braided area rugs added warmth to hardwood flooring throughout my primary guest space. A cozy couch and large upholstered chairs congregated near the large, wall-mounted television.

Behind the couch, a long, deep table doubled as a desk. Thick curtains covered the door that led to a small deck equipped with Adirondack chairs and golf course views. After dark, fabric blinds and narrow bookshelves enhanced the cozy yet luxurious vibe .
Eats and Drinks at SentryWorld
The Executive Lounge provides non-alcoholic beverage and snack service on the secure Executive Level floor. Guests choose from fresh fruit, energy bars, coffee, soft drinks, and citrus-infused water.
But for a ‘custom’ breakfast, visit the Library Café. Delicious options may include Candied Bacon Cinnamon Rolls, Vanilla Bean Scones, or Caramel Apple French Toast Bake. Multiple coffee drinks also crowd the menu.

At lunchtime, the café is known for its flatbreads and house-made soup. Early each evening, Library Café becomes a welcoming bar. Its expansive cocktail menu includes Wisconsin’s legendary brandy Old-Fashioned.
Low-Key to Upscale Dining
During lunch, dinner, happy hour, football games, and Wisconsin’s legendary fish fries, public space on the main floor doubles as casual dining space for PJ’s.
The menu contains handcrafted seasonal dishes that incorporate locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. It’s a focus facilitated through the hotel’s patronage of the Stevens Point Farmers Market and a partnership with Central Rivers Farmshed.
Hearty beer cheese soup is a signature item in this cheese-loving state. Other offerings include handmade burgers, fresh, wood-fired pizza, flatbreads, soups, and daily blue plate specials. And, of course, the bar offers libations to accompany meals.
Guests who crave an evening of upscale dining can also cross the road for dinner inside Muse at Sentry . Think handcrafted pasta, premium, wet- and dry-aged steaks or seared halibut. Then pair your meal with wine or a signature cocktail. Cream and taupe furnishings create an elegant yet comfortable neutral design palate. It complements Muse’s impressive art collection, including an original piece by Pablo Picasso.
