A passenger at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport attacked and injured three Transportation Security Administration agents at a screening checkpoint early Tuesday morning.
The TSA told reporters that the attack occurred at Checkpoint D in Terminal 4 at approximately 5:55 a.m. local time.  The attack caused the checkpoint to shut down temporarily and Phoenix police officers arrested the perpetrator.  Passengers were directed to another security checkpoint.
Two of the agents injured in the attack were treated in hospital and released.
The TSA called the attack “unprovoked and brazen.”
Police identified the attacker as 19-year-old Makiah Coleman and said she was booked and placed into custody without further incident.  She faces multiple assault charges along with charges of criminal damage and disorderly conduct.   The penalty for attacking a TSA agent includes incarceration and fines of up to $13,910.
