Tower Over Dubai from the Burj Khalifa: Is it Worth the Hype?

Wander With Wonder - Discovering Wow Moments Around the World or Across the Street
What can you expect when you visit Burj Khalifa in Dubai? Is it worth the hype? Read on for our recommendations and suggestions.
People travel to Dubai for different reasons. Some do it for the dunes, others for the shopping experiences, and others for the luxury. And almost all these tourists end up at the Burj Khalifa. So, understandably, many aspiring travelers wonder if this building is worth the hype. We examine why it’s such a popular attraction and why you might want to scale its heights. But before that, let’s start with a tip: tourists to Dubai need visas and valid passports. Before booking a Burj Khalifa tour, ensure your passport is up-to-date by getting it renewed or replaced.
Now, back to the Burj. Read what you can expect when visiting Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
Why the Burj Khalifa is Such a Huge Attraction
How tall is this building? You may have heard that it is the tallest building in the world. But just how tall is it? Well, it is a staggering 828-meter (2,716 feet) attraction! And if you’d like to compare it to the Empire State Building, we’re talking about twice the height. The key reason people tour the Burj Khalifa is for the experience of towering over Dubai. After all, from its viewpoint, you can see all of Dubai – much like a bird’s eye view of the world as it flaps its wings over a city.

But the view is not the only thing that has people flocking to this attraction in throngs. Below are some things you likely did not know existed in the Burj Khalifa :
1.   Enjoy Fine Dining
Do you love restaurants with good views? That should be easy at At.mosphere, a restaurant in the heart of Burj Khalifa. You can stare at the clouds hovering over Dubai as you quell your hunger pangs with oysters or a meal of your choice. And that is likely more exciting than taking pictures on an empty stomach. Why not have both?

2.   Test the Speed Elevators
Visiting the Burj Khalifa is enough to inspire an adrenaline rush in most people. But if you want to add some excitement to the tour, opt for the high-speed elevators. One even operates at 35 kilometers per hour. And you will indeed feel its speed as it shoots through the floors on your way to the observation deck.
3.   Jump!
Okay. Maybe a tour of the Burj Khalifa is not enough to awaken your adventurous spirit. Perhaps even the high-speed elevators feel like child’s play to you. So, how about jumping? You will be 2,700 feet from the ground, which makes for an incredible free fall. Use the right gear and follow the safety instructions, as that is quite a long distance.
4.   Get High
If you’re thinking green, not quite. Instead, the idea here is to enjoy alcoholic drinks in a bar 575 meters (1,886 feet) above the ground. Nothing says high quite as much as enjoying good tequila while overlooking miniature buildings and people from the lounge on the 152nd floor. And if you’re feeling up to it, you can enjoy your drink on the terrace, where you can enjoy some fresh air and an incredible sunset view.
5.   View the City
And, of course, you can always go with the most common activity—heading to the observation deck and staring at Dubai under your feet. From the 124th and 125th floors, you get such an expansive view of the city that you can get a good bearing of the city. And you can top it off by using a telescope to view the far-flung areas. Or head to the 148th floor for an even better vantage point.
