JetBlue Mint/Mosaic check-in area at JFK
JetBlue Airways announced the implementation of a major haul of its TrueBlue frequent-flyer program, news first made public last fall.
The new program adds easy-to-earn perks for less than frequent flyers while making business-class upgrades available for the first time in the airline’s history.
“The new TrueBlue redefines what it means to be a loyalty program by offering new and exciting perks to more customers, as well as providing more ways to attain perks and status,” said Christopher Buckner, the airline’s vice president of loyalty programs.
The New York-based carrier is replacing Mosaic Qualifying points, or MQPs, for what it calls Tiles. Members will earn one Tile for every $100 spent on flights, vacations, and on travel with American Airlines. A member will also receive one Tile for every $1,000 of spend on a JetBlue co-branded credit card.
The second major change is that the TrueBlue program is no longer a single-tier program. Members will hit Mosaic 1 status after 50 Tiles. There are four Mosaic tiers in the new TrueBlue program. Little will change from Mosaic to Mosaic 1, but Mosaic 3 will give the member four standby upgrade certificates to Mint, which it had never offered before. Mosaic 4 will provide two additional upgrade certificates and four one-way airport transfers via helicopter to John F. Kennedy International or Newark Liberty International airports.
Benefits start with as few as ten Tiles, the equivalent of $1,000 in spend. With every ten Tiles, a member will receive an additional benefit. These benefits include early boarding, priority security access, a free alcoholic beverage on board a flight, or a 5,000-point bonus.
